These World War II era shorts, produced in the United States and around the world, were never meant to survive past wartime, and understandably many have been shelved, lost or forgotten since the mid-1940s. Fortunately, these films still exist and serve as an interesting social document of the attitudes prevalent at the time; some imposed by the government in the form of propaganda and some by the filmmakers. This great collection is mastered from original 16mm and 35mm film prints, many from the only surviving material

pure pleasure
What a wonderful collection! As other reviewers noted, it makes you want a Volume Two, especially for cartoons done by or for the Nazis - fascinating historical pieces. The American made toons are great fun as well. Really a great way to speand a few hours. Plus, the four page booklet gives some interesting details. highly recommended!

Pretty Good
I didn't receive the first package, but since there was tracking number I had to wait almost a month before I could contact the seller. Once I contacted him he sent out a new one and it arrived within a week. DVD is brand new and though I haven't played yet, there doesn't seem to be any cause for concern.

Memory Lane
I remember seeing these cartoons when I was very young....and my son commented that he liked to watch them because of the history they imparted. I bought it for him for Christmas, and then we watched them together. Since we're both history buffs, it was great fun and engendered discussion about today's "PC" atmosphere.

Lousy quality
Can understand why some of the films weren't very good quality, but ALL of them were of lousy quality and less.

An interesting collection of vintage cartoons.
I enjoyed seeing the propaganda from all sides.

Not as advertised
First off, Private Snafu is pretty bad and the rest of it barely qualifies as war time cartoons. Half the selections are educational films of some sort. Very disappointing.
