Is this a synthetic or natural thread? Will it melt when exposed to flame?

They advertise it as real (natural) but what I got was synthetic. Similar to most products like this on amazon.

Is it round or flat and what diameter?

It's not round - it's flat waxed thread. I purchased this based off a previous answer stating it was round.

Is it round or flat? What is the diameter?

Its flatter. I am not sure of the diameter. It is a thicker thread.
