The Art of Mandala: Adult Coloring Book Featuring Beautiful Mandalas Designed to Soothe the Soul

First of all, comments on Amazon paper: Yes this is Amazon paper. A lot of coloring books here are. If you don’t want Amazon paper then do not buy any books that say they are “independently published.” The authors have no choice on the paper with print on demand. We are lucky to be able to have these independent artists as an option. IF you are willing to use Amazon paper in your coloring, just make sure the book is printed single side and you use a blotter page under the page you are coloring. Useable media: Light usage of water based media works fine but this paper is best for colored pencils (it has a good tooth) or alcohol markers. THE ACTUAL BOOK REVIEW: I really like Jason’s mandala style. It seems different and more exciting to me than other mandala books. I love his usage of flowers and leaves, art deco elements and Nordic style designs. There isn’t a single mandala here I wouldn’t be happy to color and I am picky with mandalas. For example, I have looked at probably close to one hundred mandala books and this is the first one I bought. I can see myself buying the second volume in this series when I am looking for more mandalas in the future. The mandala designs in this book are beyond amazing! I am stunned that it's priced as low as it is. I have never purchased a duplicate book, as I have quite the collection, but this is a must! Yeah, I could scan and save the pics to print myself before coloring them, but I will absolutely be buying this again and supporting the artist. I am so in love!! Gorgeous designs for beginners, intermediate, AND advanced color-ers! Some pictures do have tiny details so I'd reccomend having ultra-fine tip pens/markers.

I was thrilled to find out that Jason Hamilton has a mandala coloring book out! 50 delightful full page single sided mandalas in a 8.5" x 8.5" square format. From average to fine details and I love ALL the designs. Yes, it is on Create Space paper, so what? Place a piece of heavy paper behind the page you are coloring if you are using alcohol or water markers or even fineliners....also even when using pencils ( to prevent impressions onto the next page). If you want to use wet media, you can copy your page onto cardstock or watercolor paper. (You can copy ONLY for your personal usage.) I have uploaded one picture of the "bookplate" page. I used fineliners ( which are water based....and there was minor bleed through). I will upload with mandala pictures as I color them. Please purchase if you love mandalas like I do. Consider also as a Christmas present for a colorist who loves mandalas. This book will not disappoint

The book and images are a bit smaller than most, therefore if you have a vision problem, perhaps this one isn't for you. On the other hand, the small structure of the book allows you to grab it and some pencils, tuck them in your bag, and have something handy to fill these waiting times we all get at doctor's, dentists, and some stop lights. (A little humor). I didn't like the paper is why I gave it only 4 stars. The paper works ok with colored pencils but is way too thin for any kind of a marker. The images, however, are set into the middle of the page where placing your book on a scanner could give you your own paper choice on which to color. Also, you might could plump up the size, too. The images get a little more difficult as you progress through the book, but none are too difficult that you won't enjoy these delightful drawings. I like the book. Images on one side, decent paper, not perforated. What I really like is that the various mandalas vary from small intricate shapes to larger more open spaces. There are times when I'm in the mood to do intricate, small, detailed pages and times when I just want to color. When I want to blend and try gradients I need larger spaces and this book provides those as well. All those different sized images will keep my from getting bored so I give it 5 stars.

Artwork was clear, detailed and a challenge However the designs were too large for the page and even with caution extracting each page with a sharp blade, at least 3/4 of the designs were damaged on the binding side. Looking forward to trying one of this companies other books.

I have several coloring books by other artists but when I started coloring in Jason's book, I felt the other books were a primer for this one. It is challenging but I love that! Some of the designs are extremely intricate and I love those the best. I love gel pens so I used them in this book. As I began to color, I truly felt inspired to color in a manner that highlighted the shapes (sometimes hidden) and let the picture "speak" to me as it unfolded. I have not been disappointed in any of my colorings in this book. I love it. Buy it! You'll be glad you did. I just received Vol. 2 and can't wait to begin. It has some flowers in it that I also love. Happiness defined...during the pandemic!

One of my favorite coloring books ever! Love the variety of mandalas from simple open designs, to complex ones that you may need better light and glasses for. Really love that each design is on its own page, no worries about markers bleeding thru designs on the backside.

Cet album est vraiment très joli, j'apprécie la finesse des traits et l'originalité des motifs. L'un des meilleurs albums de mandala que je possède. Plus on avance dans le livre et plus les illustrations deviennent un peu plus complexe, ce qui permet d'évaluer son niveau au fur et à mesure.
