Good recoil protection but poor securing clasp
Used it once and I found it offered great recoil protection without being bulky, however it kept slipping out of position due to the chest strap securing clasp not holding together, this is a simple clasp which secures the two ends of the adjustable chest strap together, maybe I just received a substandard one , however in my opinion the clasp is the weak point with this shield consequently I will be returning this item.

This Caldwell Field Shield tames the recoil of the real big boomers (8x68S; .375 H&H ; .416 Rigby) to a more tolerable level. Whether on the range to allow for practice with full power loads; or in the field : this shield is very practical in use.

makes prone shooting a pleasure not a pain
I've owned the field recoil version for two years for shotguns and although this version is bulkier it is still all day comfortable to wear arrived well packaged I'm a 50" chest and this fit me very pleased with the reduction in felt recoil making prone shooting a pleasure without the pain!

Shoulder protection from shotgun recoil.
Easy to use, and did what I bought it for which was protect my shoulder from the recoil of the shotgun during clay pigeon shooting.
