Great Kit Good Detail
I bought this kit because it is the same scale as the old wood Speedebilt Kits I made 60 years ago, but a lot more detailed. It was relatively easy to assemble but I ran into two issues. One the landing gear is weak and I had problems with it collapsing from the weight of the model You may need to strengthen the joints with MIlliPut putty. Two the wing folding I could not get to work. I had to decide to assemble it with or without the wings folded. Still a great kit and I am well pleased with it.

It's a great plane.
I built this model in 1/48th scale, but prefer the large scale myself. I feel that scales 1/72, 1/76, 1/100th, and 1/144 are a waste of good plastic that can be used on making larger scale models. At least ones that are visible to the naked eye. This model is excellent and would go good in any diorama. I usually build them with a mint paint job then whether them to look war torn, then add appropriate surroundings. The surroundings for this one will be a challenge because of it's large scale. If a Navy plane is what you want for your collection then I would recommend either the Corsair or the Hellcat.

Revell's venerable Corsair re-popped
This is a plastic model kit of an F4U-1A Corsair in 1/32 scale. It requires glue and paint to assemble properly. Revell's 1/32 scale Corsair dates from around 1970 I believe. It's been released several times over the decades, including this latest Revell Germany release, although I think this might be the first time that the -1A description is correct. The model is molded in light grey plastic, and has some flash on the parts. That's to be expected on a kit of this vintage. Despite that, fit of the parts is good. The outline is generally correct, including the slightly offset rudder. Other details are... not so correct. The crankcase on the engine, the cowling flaps, the wheel wells and landing gear, and most especially the cockpit are not up to current standards. Surface detail consists of raised panel lines and rivets. Flaps and control surfaces are fixed in the neutral position. The model has assemblies to make the wings fold, but the details are spurious and the fold mechanism is prone to breakage if used too much. Rivet counters need not apply. That said, I have a lot of affection for this model. It's big, it's inexpensive and it looks like a Corsair when finished. It's not too detailed for younger modelers, and it's big enough that scratch builders can have a lot of fun improving it. If you need your model to be accurate, then you'll likely gravitate towards the Tamiya or Trumpeter Corsairs, but there are aftermarket kits out there that can be used to spruce this one up nicely. Plus, Corsairs were painted in a variety of interesting schemes, and for the cost of one Tamiya kit, you could build and paint four or five of these. If the drawbacks listed above don't bother you, then I would recommend this model. It's fun to build, it looks the part, and it's inexpensive enough that you could experiment w/ modeling and painting techniques without worry.

Very accurate model and decal detail
In 1975, I was one of those kids in single digits watching BLACK SHEEP SQUADRON. Every kid fan of that show - and plenty of adults - bought that Revell kit and assembled it to resemble Major Boyington's Lullabelle. The reason I bought this Corsair was for customizing as a special effects model in a series of short films that will play on my Gotham Filmwerks YouTube channel. This version is physically the same as the 1975 original but the decals are vastly more intricate and detailed allowing you to create a more accurate model. 44 years later, this kit is still a winner.

Revell F4U-1A 1/32 Corsair Model Kit
Took a chance on a purchasing a used item. Actually brand new. Only the box had been opened then resealed. Parts are clean with little flashing.

Itโs a Revelle. High quality
Reveille has always made high quality models. The price is good for what you get.

Classic kit, good price!
Not the best kit available, but only 25% of the price of others in this scale. I wanted something to help me build my assembly, painting and weathering skills at a low price and this classic kit is it.

Old mold
Apparently this mold is from the 70s if that's possible. As a result the surfaces lack detail. Lots of flash, bleed and injection marks. You will spend as much time filing and sanding as assembly. Design wise the fit is decent. Cockpit lacks detail. I'm only halfway through and I have some concerns about the folding wings. We shall see. I am using it as a way to improve painting and weathering techniques before I spend some real money on the Tamika version.

Cheap and Cheerful
The original 1:32 class of kits released by Revell in the late 70's reboxed for the next generation to bash. This here kit is pretty basic and inaccurate when compared to Trumpeter and the likes who do 1:32 F4U. For the money it's a bargain though as you get a large chunk of plastic for your money that can be turned into a very nice kit with major work or even minimal efforts. Raised panel lines and a basic cockpit and landing gear can, if so wished, be replaced with more modern aftermarket parts and the panel lines can be scribed out also. a little extra wiring in the engine bay can make all the difference for display. I have a few of these kits and have yet to build one but one I bought for a friend has been a success as he is a huge F4U fan and loved his.
