Worth the money
Nice and powerful, cuts thru 2 plus inch limbs...muscle needed but it's easier than chain saw

Better cutter than the newer model PowerGear2
Excellent Lopper. I like it much better than the newer version of it, PowerGear2. It provides leverage immediately when you start cutting instead of delaying the leverage after you are halfway thru the limb like PowerGear2 did for me. My weak arms can cut thru the same 2in Privet brush easily with this lopper but not so with the newer model, PowerGear2. It also weighs less. Both models require swinging out the handles further to cut same branch as standard lopper but it needs to in order to provide the leverage of easier cutting. The handles travel farther but require less force (strength) than standard lopper.

Powerful and work great
These are amazing! They power through larger limbs that typical lopper wouldn't be able to get. All the different loppers can certainly have their place in the toolbox, but these can easily replace them all since it cuts through tiny to very large limbs.

One word "AWESOME" Lopper by Fiskars Model 9154
I am an outdoor type person, hunter, logging, landscaper etc, so you can rely on my opinion and feedback on this Fiskars Model 9154. First thing I was looking for, in my line of work, was a lopper on steroids type of cutter. When I found this Model 9154 by Fiskars and bought it I was amazed at my first use with it. First let me preface my feedback by saying that the pics that Amazon shows for this tool are WRONG. I'll explain. What I wanted in a gear lopper was a metal gear not plastic gears which are what are shown here in the pics and are part of the plastic grip. These plastic gears I feel will fail after continued and heavy use trust me they will. The plastic gears believe it or not come on a more expensive model (forgot the model #). What Amazon does have is the right model for the metal gears and it is in fact the #9154 model shown here for about $31. I got mine a gold box deal for about $23, a great deal...but I would have paid $40 for them...Dont tell Amazon or they will raise the price. The only problem and it was not a huge one on the gold deal box thing at $23, I had to add another item to get it above $25 for the free shipping..no biggie. Done deal. Well now for the description and review.. This model 9154 comes with true metal gear diven cutting head. Actually it is not a gear at all, there are teeth that are machined cut into the head area of the entire cutting head for leverage and it works!!!. Good quality and well done. As far as cutting this unit is amazing. My first cut I tried it on some heavy hardwood field sapplings that are like ironwood. First of all I am no tiny guy, I'm 6'4" and 225 lbs. and fairly strong. My old conventional pruner loppers (24" and 32") on this same sapplings 1-1/2" to 2" I would have to bite around it with the cutting edge a couple times to weaken it before I could make the sever cut. So now with these Fiskars in hand, I walked up to a 2" sap, opened the jaws to fit it and anticipated a grunting squeeze, which never came. This tool is amazing. With no effort at all this lopper cut thru as they say like a hot knife thru butter. I thought that I should try a couple more in case this one had some rot, which I did not suspect really. The next few went as easy and fast as the first ones.Trust me this is the unit to get especially if you are elderly, or a female, (and no I am not a male Sho-v-nis-tic guy..lol) Why kill yourself with the old style. This is basic physics put to work....leverage...and it works. A grammer school kid could have disigned this. I am just sorry I did not invent this and then patend it. In my years I have made my guess million plus cuts with prunners and loppers and just recently discovered this tool. You have to buy this tool, it will do everything and then some beyond your expectations. Dont waste your money on the more expensive model, especially the one with the plastic gears. I liked it so well I ordered three more for gifts for friends. And no I do not work for Fiskars, but maybe they should hire me...lol Buy it you wont be sorry or sending it back for a return. You will thank me...Tom Whit

Goes right through 2-inch branches
I really like Fiskars PowerGear loppers. I bought this pair so I can have a pair at each of my two houses. My other pair is a 24-inch model from 1997. Pros: Relatively lightweight yet still strong. Very easy cutting due to the gear in and the jaw design. Easily cuts branches up to 2 inches in diameter. Cons: The loppers need much more space to open and close due to the gear system. This is what gives the extra leverage that makes them easy to use, but if you're limited on space, you won't be able to use them at all. Plus, it's more arm movements, so it will tire you out faster if you have to make a lot of cuts. The handle grips will slide off the end of the handle after a lot of use. They eventually get chewed up on the ends and slide down the handle toward the jaws, too.

I'm a happy little lopper now. My garden has been restored to its former beauty
These things are fantastic. I added a berm to my front yard a couple of years ago and landscaped it with an assortment of smaller trees, shrubs and plants. By this summer it had gotten decidedly overgrown. So, I did what I an several million other folks do when they need to fix a problem.... I turned to amazon for reviews and the best price on a lopper. Honestly, before this year I had never even heard the term "lopper" (and apparently neither has the Amazon spell checking service because it keeps urging me to change the spelling -- you know, with that wavy red line underneath the word). But after pouring over the reviews for days I decided on this pair. I know the fiskars brand from garden shears (even though I have felcos) and knew it to be pretty reliable so I felt reasonably confident in my decision. Wow, these things are great. Now you know I've got nothing to compare them to since I've already said that I never even heard the term lopper before now, but for my money these things did everything I asked of them without complaint. Probably the toughest task I set before them was the pruning of my fig tree which (because I am also new to fig tree gardening) had become a fig "bush" and therefor would not bear any fruit despite being green lush and leafy. Some of the shoots of the fig bush were at least an inch in diameter and this lopper hacked through them with very little difficulty. I would imagine that someone a bit stronger than me could have made the job go even faster (I am a tired middle aged woman -- well, maybe not that tired, but still....). So the long and the short of it (because I am sure you don't want to waste your time reading all about my gardening exploits) is that withing a couple of hours I had lopped my way through the berm, the fig tree and much of the unruly planting in my front yard. The biggest problem I faced was where to deposit all that stuff I lopped off (I carried it quietly into the woods that abut my neighbor's house). BOTTOM LINE: These things get the job done quickly and efficiently and require very little effort. I would highly recommend them for weekend gardeners like myself.

An excellent lopper
This is the length to get 32"! They are only a couple ounces more than the 18" or 27". You get more reach an more leverage so thicker branches are easier cut. The leverage an length makes them easy to use over head. The light weight makes them easier to use overall. They cut thicker branches easier than any other lopper I have used. 1" branches cut like butter! My 80 yr old mother loves them as she can easily cut things she had to saw previously. Just clean off any sap on blade regularly an 1 drop of oil at pivot points once a year is all they need. I have been using different lengths of this model for 10 plus years now. An bought several as gifts so people don't borrow mine!

Like a hot knife through butter
My cousin had a pair of the Fiskar PowerGear Bypass Loppers - after using them to clear yardful of shrubs, bushes, vines, and small trees, I just had to get a pair for myself. Arrived ahead of schedule and proved themselves out in my garden as well :-)

Astschere
