The Enlightenment Process: A Guide to Embodied Spiritual Awakening (Revised and Expanded)

I have been studying Buddhist teachings, Hindu teachings, Western psychology and esoteric psychology for over 30 years. I work professionally with individuals and groups assisting their psycho-emotional and spiritual development and awakening. I am not easily impressed these days unless a teaching or teacher is very deep, full of truth and clarity. Judith Blackstone just amazes me. I am in awe with her clarity, her precision, her insight, compassion, and how much kindness she brings to the process of conscious embodiment, not denying the emotional or physical self in any way. If you are interested in a body-centered way of awakening, without denying the human self, I would say her work and teachings are some of the best on the planet, no exaggeration! So many nondual teachings overtly or subtly have the tendency toward dissociation from the human part of ourselves, moving away from our humanness into a so called higher aspect of being. Judith assists us in bringing our awakening directly into full embodiment; into our cognitive awareness, emotional awareness, and physical sensation - head, heart and abdominal area. This is the same as the three tan tiens of Chinese medicine and Taoist schools. Again, I highly recommend her work.

As I would read a paragraph, I found myself saying "Uh, huh." Then I would reread the same paragraph and say, "Oh." Then I would read the paragraph one more time and then say, "Ohhhhh." I find this book interesting and insightful, but I don't think it would be very useful to anyone who is not serious about finding their true Self. Kudos, Judith, for laying down stepping stones for my journey.

This is the first book by Judith Blackstone that I read. I return to it again and again and each time I find something new or different. My reaction during my first read was one of awe. Her voice seemed so clear, wise, practical, lofty yet grounded and based in fully-lived somatic experience. The information is more than helpful and the exercises are simple and can lead to profound experience of oneself, others, and the world.

An amazing book. Clearly explains enlightenment by someone that is actually experiencing it, rather by someone explaining it based on what his/her teacher said or some particular tradition says. And gives you the knowledge to work on it for yourself! If you are on the path, this book is a must.

Enter into the mysticism of life without mythology, without creed or dogma! I found this book , and her work to be extremely helpful, practical and practicable.

This is a must read. I also bought the CD's. It makes it a lot easier to follow the exercices.

By the title alone, I was expecting a book about a guide to enlightenment. Instead I read a story that was difficult to follow. I am also partial because I am not a fan of authors that try to explain techniques that worked for them, and make it seem that they will work for you. This was a well written book, but a hard read.

Nicely written different approach to enlightenment

We cannot become real by pretending to be other than who we are right now. Even after we have begun our realization of fundamental consciousness, we are still incomplete, fragmented people, at the same time as we are attuned to the dimension of wholeness and unity. This means that we retain our human right to sing the blues, even though we are increasingly capable of joy and peace. As our realization progresses, our desire for completeness grows stronger. Eventually it becomes central in our lives, the basis of our life choices, and the primary source of our satisfaction. In the modern world, as probably in all previous eras, the growing individual must swim against the powerful, hypnotic tides of ignorance and cynicism. Yet we ride the even more powerful, hidden current of the spontaneous process of enlightenment. When we realize fundamental consciousness, we live in a dimension that is unknown to most people. We then have only our own perception and experience to guide and reassure us. We must trust the subtle signs that mark our own personal path toward wholeness—the deepening currents of energy in our body, the freedom of our love, the radiance in the air, the synchronicity between outer events and our inner needs, and the increasing transparency of our body and environment. Although religious affiliation is certainly an option, once we have entered the dimension of fundamental consciousness, there is no necessity for outward ritual or excessive discipline. The path emerges as we go, bringing us the circumstances and practices that we need in order to facilitate our growth. At the core of everyone and everything is radiant, unbroken consciousness, the root of the universe. Judith Blackstones wunderbar unaufgeregte und uneitle Einführung in die subtileren Sphären des Seins gehören zum Besten, was es in dieser Richtung zu lesen gibt. Ob man davon die ultimative Erleuchtung erfährt, mag eher in der Natur des einzelnen liegen, wenn er diese Übungen befolgt (auch als CDs erhältlich: The Realization Process) aber es gibt wenig vergleichbares. Das ist alles profund, geerdet und keineswegs abgehoben, wie man meinen könnte, denn Judith Blackstone weiß um die Gefahren und Fußangeln des Vermeidens notwendiger Konfrontationen. Wenn man diese Arbeit kontinuierlich verfolgt, kommt man auf jeden Fall ein großes Stück weiter, ohne seine Wurzeln zu verlieren. Daß 'Erwachen' wirklich erst möglich ist, wenn man vollständig inkarniert ist, habe ich noch nirgends so gut herausgearbeitet gefunden. Leider nur auf Englisch, aber leicht verständlich.

I learned about this book of Judith Blackstone via a friend of mine who's in Systemic Constellations Work too. There's a lot of books on Enlightenment. Some of them are good reads but doesn't really help you in this Process. This book is clear and practical and focuses more on the Process. It's a great support.
