Easy to clean; bit of a hassle, but have to clean it nevertheless. And, its reassuring that the water is being filtered and our cat loves to drink from it. It comes with 2 options for the water to flow from the filter. Just be careful about reordering the filters, that you make sure it fits this brand of water fountain. Great purchase, worth the money. Recommend it.

I received this fountain as a gift a while back. These are the right filters, about six inches across. They have a rigid plastic frame, covered with a porous cotton sheet, filled with coconut charcoal. They keep the water smelling fresh, and they filter out debris. That said, i dont think they do anything to kill microbes, so if your pet slobbers a lot or leaves food crumbs in the water, this will sweep up the crumbs but wont do much to keep things from growing. I always run a finger along the surface of the fountain. When it starts to feel slippery, clean it thoroughly and change the filter.

I was buying filters before thinking that I was buying more for a good deal and I realized that they were not worth it they were fake so now I can see the hugest difference between the filters and my cats look happier drinking lots of water

Didn't realize that I needed to change the filter on this water fountain.Then I bought replacement filters and changed the first one? Yuk! Now I change it monthly.
