It does! I however have the world's worse brown thumb and eventually killed it. Yep, killed a plant that dies and comes back over and over, don't ask how I did it. But it does grow, it take time but with loving care and SUN light and no cats to attack it, it is a great little green care free plant

Honestly it opens to about 4-5 inches and mine died, yes they do die and they are hard to keep alive due to shallow root system

These can live outdoors. The are hardy in zones 8 & up. (If you are in zone 7 or lower they would need to be brought indoors over the winter.) There are many other plants hardy in cooler zones that need very little water, but none I know of that can resurrect after this many years without water. Thank you.

Search google for "Selaginella care". They like humidity but not as much as need like ventilation. They like moisture but not as much as they need ventilation. Ideally keep out of extreme temperatures but DO let them get warmer in the day and cool down in the night like all desert plants. If you live in the right zone you can keep them outdoors all year - otherwise outdoor when it's the right temperature and inside by a window other times. They grow aerial roots which can be misted but make sure the leaves fully dry within a short period of time.

The main ways of killing this plant are too much water, not enough drainage, too much stagnant-humidity (stagnant humidity causes mold while vented humidity doesn't), not enough light. I tried keeping them indoors multiple times and killed them each time from mold or rot. I got a pair of "Frosty Tips" this spring and they're doing great outside. They will let you know if the light is too much or water isn't enough so don't be scared to push them a little.
