Fantastic mulching blade, far better than Toro's Atomic
I purchased a Toro Recycler about 4 months ago. It is the latest model with their Atomic Mulching blade. Have been very disappointed from the start with its mulching and cut quality. For a lawnmower manufacturer that has been around for as long as they have, and a model they call the Recycler, I expected a lot more. The mulching was just average at best. Couldn't handle more than the top 1/3rd or it would quickly clog up and almost stall the engine. Cut quality was poor too, with the edges of each row higher than the center, not a clean cut. So I thought I would try a different blade and see how it compares... So I settled on this MaxPower model. It looks very much like a Gator. I liked the look of it, and figured by its design it should cut and mulch well. First thing I noticed when I removed Toro's original Atomic and compared it with this side by side, was how much better this one is designed. The Toro blade is concave shape, where the cutting edges curve down with only the tips at the lowest point. Not going to get a clean cut with that design! The cutting edges of the MaxPower is parallel to the ground so gives a clean and neat cut. The build quality is better too. Is a lot more solid, weighs 850 gms as apposed to the original Atomic which was 800 gms. I have cut my lawns several times now with this MaxPower blade and it is absolutely fantastic! Does a FAR better job than Toro's original. It can easily mulch grass down to half its height without clumping or bogging down. Even on sections of my lawn that are very thick, it has no problem at all. The lawn is cut even and looks fantastic when finished. It is exactly what you would expect. For anyone that is looking for a replacement blade for their Toro Recycler, I would highly recommend this one. It is a far superior blade from the original Atomic, and is great value for money at this price.

Toro Recycler made better
Got this for my Toro 22 inch recycler stow away mower. The atomic blade that came with it is terrible even after sharpening. Got this Copper Head, I mean "MaxPower" and all is well. I did sharpen it with my angle grinder and flap disk, leveled it and it cut perfectly. I finally got my grass mowed perfectly with this new mower because of this blade and a nice out of box sharpening, just don't make it razor sharp or it will get dinged on everything you hit with it dulling it fast. Please people sharpen you mower blades at least once a season!

good blade at this price point
purchased to replace a 2 year old Toro Atomic blade that's not been sharpened. Aside from a few nics, blade is still factory sharp and cuts well. I needed to change the belt, saw this blade and decided to give it a shot. Removed the sticker and residue and got it installed. Blade doesn't seem as durable as the atomic and I can understand why reviewers say it doesn't hold it's edge as long. I opted to not sharpen it before first use. I believe the coating will wear off after a mow or 2. Mower ran smooth when started, with the atomic I had a vibration with the atomic that I'm attribute to being out of balance after 2 yrs of use. I'll get that atomic cleaned up and put back on when this one needs sharpened. I've found its always good to have a spare blade ready to go. We'll see how this holds up and so far so good. First cut was interesting. Grass wasn't that long and it bogged the mower down. I remember a reviewer indicating the blade sits appx 1" lower than the atomic. As I mulch, I've adjusted the deck heigth one full tab from the middle (where I mulch with the atomic). Regardless, it mulched well and the cut was even/smooth.

Less bagging for the same amount of grass mowed
For what this blade cost, I figured I would give it a try. Upon arrival, it was balanced perfectly - couldn't get any better (despite what other reviewers have stated). I did sand the powder coating off of the cutting edge (just enough to see the first signs of of the metal cutting edge), though I believe it would have worn off in use. I tested the balance again, still proper. Installation was a 1-2-3 on my 4 year old 22" Toro Recycler - perfect one way fit. Before installation, I took a heat gun to the label glued to the blade to remove it, and interestingly found another label beneath it and thought say what? The label said Copperhead Mower Blades Rotary 15-12649. I popped that into an internet search engine, and found this Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.com/Rotary-12649-Blade-for-Toro/dp/B009BTZT4S Similar price point, just apparently a marketing game??? Anyway, went to fire up the mower, and heard a considerable difference in that there is now a whirring sound coming from this different blade design. It isn't annoying, but noticeable, though you quickly get used to it and forget about it after a few uses. The blade does indeed mulch the clippings finer, and reduces the amount of grass collected in the bag. It seems to have slightly less lift or suction compared to the factory stock Toro blade, as it doesn't act like the vacuum cleaner it used to, and doesn't inflate the mower bag as much. I used to watch the mower bag deflate when it was getting full, though that is less noticeable now. You can still tell when the bag is almost full, though it is not as obvious as it used to be (I always put a brand new genuine Toro bag on every year for peak performance). The most pronounced difference was the reduced amount of times I had to empty the bag for the same amount of grass cut, so this design must be mulching and bagging at the same time, which is the best of both worlds for me. I have wasted many dollars over the years on items found to be inferior to useless. This blade is priced actually too low from my perception! I accidentally hit a rock that I always know to avoid, and expected the blade to have suffered some damage. I flipped the mower on its side to find no damage to the blade what so ever - very good metallurgy. NOTE: Make sure to tip your mower with the gasoline fill cap in the upward position. On my Toro recycler, this means tip it onto its right side. If you flip it the other way, it can get pissy with you (in my findings). Summary? I was skeptical, figured if I didn't like it I would resharpen my original blade and toss this one. Now that I have mowed with it a few times, it is a keeper!

Added suction to the mower
This blade will make your mower suck, literally. When I bought my new Toro and couldnโt get a clean cut I thought no way a Toro canโt get a clean cut like a Huskevanna I had for years, turn out it was the blade I had was a higher air flow blade. With a higher air flow the grass blades will stand up more thus get a cleaner blade leaving no blades uncut when you pass over them. Specially in the Fall when you wanna collect all those leaves or whenever you want to clean the surface of the lawn. Surprisingly this blade mulch just as good. When you set it on bag mode in your toro, you will see the bag get inflated because of the high suction the curved blade end creates. Great blade , fits perfectly and works perfectly. Fits toro 22 inch recycler . Made in USA .

Fits my 22" Toro Recycler
Great blade. Good value. Comes reasonably sharp but I recommend you sharpen and balance before use. Mulches better than the OE Toro blade. Price was better than my local big box home improvement store.

Beats the Atomic Blades
After cutting the lawn a few times with this I've noticed that it is different and similar to the Toro Atomic blades. The similarity is that when mulching tall grass it will clog up, bog down and spit chunks; the solution I found is to mow about 6 feet, pop the front up to spray out some mulch and pull back about 1 foot then repeat (frequency depends on mower and height of grass). Of course cutting more frequently eliminates or reduces the need to pop the front end up. The difference, and this is a big one, is that this blade not only cuts the grass but does a great job shredding it, looking at the mulch you can see that the individual blades of grass are stringy and broken apart not just cut off; I attribute this to a better fin design on the trailing edge, not only are there more than the Atomic but they're also twisted to provide extra edges that break up the grass. This blade does what I was expecting the Toro to do and at a slightly better price. It also seems to bag better too, probably because the grass is being broken down more and compacts better. Will definitely buy another when the time comes.

Heavy duty but wrong length?
Blade looks solid but was slightly to long on one side, clipping the mower frame.
