Saunders Sketchboard 23x26 Recycled Hardboard Drawing Board with Handle

Came to me well packaged and was exactly what Saunders marketed it to be. It’s sturdy and the clips and band are not cheap quality. Thank you, Saunders for creating a well made recycles product!

Exactly what you want from a sketchboard. Stiff enough that nothing flexes underneath your paper, the two side clips hold firmly without warping the page, and the rubber band is a nice low-tech touch for keeping things in place when you’re working outside in the wind. The handle makes it actually portable, which matters if you’re hauling it around for plein air. Recycled hardboard, made in the USA, and it feels like it’ll last forever. Pros: • Genuinely rigid, no flex • Clips hold paper securely • Rubber band is a smart bonus • Comfortable handle for carrying • Big enough for full sheets (23x26) Cons: • Heavier than foam-core alternatives (the trade-off for being rigid) • Bare hardboard surface — you may want to add a smoother layer if you draw with thin paper Tips: • Tape down your paper for long sessions, even with the clips • A piece of smooth cardstock or bristol under your working sheet makes the surface feel even nicer • Store it flat or upright — leaning it for months can warp the corners

I bought this to use as a lap table for drawing and art. I was in a very bad wreck and had a lot of injuries that have forever changed my life. Due to constant pain i sometimes cant get out of bed for days. I use drawing and art as a distraction to help keep me from getting such high anxiety during those times. Its light and easy to store close to my bed. Its also big enough to have plenty of room for whatever size paper im using.

Product is great, everything I wanted. But it was shipped with NO packing materials and, as a result, two corners were broken. Too much trouble to return but I am very disappointed.

Throughout the more negative reviews I saw two primary complaints: that this board was flimsy, and that the clamps were hard to manage. I'm happy to report that neither is quite accurate. This is a thin board of about .13 inches thick, and of course, due to its 23x26 inch width and length, this will come with some give. Treat it properly, though, and it's not a problem at all, and exactly as I expected. The clamps, also, are very simple. Just be sure to pull the handles (flat metal bars attached by a screw) out to where they're perpendicular with the clamps, then press down with your thumb. That simple. And no, you don't need help getting them both open. For its low $20 price this is above and beyond, and the item shipped very quickly to boot.

This product is exactly what I want. Unfortunately it came in a box that was too big and it had no packaging to protect it so one of the clamps is bent and when I picked it up by the handle a chunk of the board came off. I will make it work for the price but I am a little disappointed. I dont want to wait another week for a new one so I will keep it.8

I live in a small apartment, so I love propping an art board in my lap as a surface for drawing, or chucking it on my bed as a crafting surface. It's just the right size for it. It feels like it will outlive me for years of durability.

I love this art board! Perfect for mobile sketching/drawing. I’ve searched for the specific artboard Type that I had in art school. But, they’re nearly impossible to locate. THAT type of heavy duty, THICK wood board is from a past era, I assume. Used ones are typically to scarred or grooved to use. (Or you would have to pay an exorbitant amount of $$.) However, this “recycled” art board is very close. Although it is thinner than I’d typically prefer, it does have some give in the middle due to it’s larger size. But, no complaints, I’m very satisfied with all of it! Some of my previous exp with “recycled” opt’s has not been good. Yet, this board is NOT like those. These clips are strong, yet not TOO strong. The rubber banding is of good, thick quality. The hand hold location is just right, etc. The price for this size was too good to pass up. I had not used this large a size before. But, it is actually perfect for how I layout my all my drawing ref materials: images, life model pictures, etc. I’m able to place so much on this board, I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before. Right now I have (2) 11”x17” acrylic paper pads, (4) anatomy pictures, & (2) 8 1/2”x11” gestural drawings. That makes this portable art desk my favorite piece of equipment in a long time. Well worth buying.

I ordered this for a drawing class I was taking, and needed it to support larger drawing paper. It does. It's larger than I expected (bc I didn't really measure it out), and at first I thought it might be too big, but it's great. I have a reclining chair with wide arms, and I can rest the board across the arms, and use it to balance my laptop, while the chair is tilted. Very comfy. The board is a good weight. Light, but sturdy. The handle is a nice touch, as are the clips at the top and the large elastic. And it arrived very quickly!

After I mistakenly bought this without paying attention to its measurements, I am extremely happy I kept it. I use it when I want to do some late night painting while in bed. It’s size and sturdiness allows me to use it while in bed. I put everything from paint; water; brushes and paper on it without it shifting or bending even slightly. I highly recommend this product regardless of how you use it.

Great Quality!. I put my art work on this and am able to move it around easily. It Has two clips to ensure it adheres to the board securely. Overall I would recommend and will purchase another one in the near future.

Got this to be a portable sketch board for quick draw and out and about sketching on big pads of paper. A while now and really got to use it for the last 6 months. PROS: - As advertised. smooth, large, has handle and two clips for holding pads in place. CONS: no elastic band in the box, crumpled up with the packing paper, in the box. Nowhere. Not the end of the world, but I would like one since it said it came with one. In the meantime, I'll jury-rig something. - it isn't particularly rigid and when leaned up on a drawing horse or a chair, with nothing behind the middle, it bounces and flexes. This makes drawing challenging and at times frustrating. - The clips are weak and weaken over time. The paper slips now.

The board was a bit warped when I received it. It was packaged well so that wasn't the problem. I didn't return it as I was in the middle of a home renovation and I got sidetracked. The clips are good!! The size is huge which is my own fault for not realizing just how big it would be! If you are a beginner in sketching or drawing you may want to go a size down. I gave it a 3 for the simple reason it was warped!
