Absolutely worth the buy!
This cutting board is absolutely gorgeous. I purchased the end-grain XL board with juice groves. Another reviewer noted it had taken nearly half a bottle of mineral oil when he received it, he wasn't wrong! I cleaned it, let it dry overnight and started the cutting board oil process, it soaked up quite a bit upon arrival but I've been using it for a month now and it's still perfect. Because of the end grain and how dark it is you don't really see any scratches/slices/knife marks at all. It's still smooth and beautifully made and absolutely worth the money when upgrading your cutting board. It's very sturdy, not too heavy and still fits in my sink to be able to clean with ease. I would definitely recommend this board.

First use prep high maintenance but durable, attractive, easy on knives
One month review: It's a great board that requires some maintenance every few weeks, but once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy. It still looks like new. It's pretty heavy, but it really adds to the kitchen decor in a way a plastic board never will. I use my board about 1-2 times daily, so I bought Howard brand food grade mineral oil and conditioner and treat it regularly, especially after reading other comments. I treat the wood every 2-3 weeks. You'll know when to do it because it will start looking dried out. For first time use: Wash it, dry it well, oil it 2-3 times, letting it dry overnight each time. It will be somewhat water resistant when it's ready, water will bead and roll off. Then condition it and leave it overnight. Then wash and dry it well. It's a lot of work to do before you start using it, but smooth day after if you do it right. After treatment or use, wash it with mild dish soap and warm water all over. It's important to get it totally wet every time you wash it to prevent the wood from splitting. Dry it by hand with a kitchen towel after washing and lean it against something to air dry evenly. This board may outlive me. Crack resistance: Regular moisturizing prevents cracks or minimizes them. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Soft enough wood that it won't damage knives, but stands up to cracking. Potential antibacterial properties.

Updated: DO NOT BUY
Update 1 year and 3 months later: This board continually warps little by little, and now itโs no longer usable because of how warped it is. I donโt ever keep my cutting boards in water, so I can only conclude that itโs a subpar product overall. Find something else. โ- In the world of cutting boards, this is not โexpensive.โ I have my Boos cutting boards, but both of mine are big, heavy, and maple, and I wanted to have a smaller, lighter board made of something else, preferably darker. I also donโt need another board that costs $200-300, so I searched on Amazon for a walnut cutting board, leading me to this one. The size is great (17x11). But the quality of the walnut seems a little subpar for a cutting board. Worse, the finish is really unacceptable. You can oil a new cutting board and wipe with a paper towel to see how much snag the board has, with white bits of paper towel everywhere. This one was unacceptable. In my case, I have every kind of sanding paper available so I used a 120, 200, then 400 on it. I oiled and waxed it, and it was much better. I repeated once more and it was what I wanted โ looking as the photos in my review show. Iโd say that the small amount of labor it required to get it to the condition I want was not too bad. But the wood is pretty soft and Iโll be conditioning it often. I find I use it a lot due to it being lightweight and smaller (unlike my other boards) and I like the darker color. It looks really neutral on the countertop. I want one more cutting board that is smaller - but for the above reasons, I wonโt be buying this brand again. While I donโt mind the work, Iโm sure many would prefer a cutting board to be perfect out of the box. This one leaves a bit to be desired.

It's great however needs better quality control
This is my second cutting board from this company. I left my first one out west, it was perfect. These cutting boards are very nice and high quality wood. However this one wasn't finished sanding so I had to sand it before using. It was very rough. It was a very easy fix so I lefy it at 5 stars. Be sure to oil your boards regularly, they will last longer.

Very nice walnut board
It arrived in good condition, and I bought the mineral oil from the same company, but have yet to try that out. The construction looks solid, it cleans up easily, and I make sure to follow the cleaning instructions carefully. I see no reason it shouldn't hold up nicely as long as the proper care is taken. I do wish it was just slightly bigger, but it's a decent size, and looks great on the counter :) I also appreciate the personal touch from the owner of the company sending a hand-written note along with it. Love that I can support a small Canadian business!

Well made board
Good quality board made in Canada. Was delighted to receive a hand written note from seller and customer service number. This shows that they are confident and proud of their products. Care instruction is also provided.

Best walnut end grain cutting board on Amazon.
This walnut end grain cutting board is a steal at this price! Other known brands would have easily charged $399 for this. I would suggest conditioning it with mineral oil twice before applying a cream with mineral oil + beeswax before using it. Remember to wipe off excess water after the initial rinse, wipe off excess oil after application with a cloth, before setting it to dry on its short edge. A gorgeous heirloom board like this requires prep work and maintenance. Otherwise just get a cheap one that you can replace every year.
