Critical detail about closing tools! Must open another tool to release first tool.
It's a great little multi tool, I'm giving 5 stars BUT there was one very frustrating element that took a solid 15 minutes to figure out. When I opened the knife tool I couldn't close it and didn't see any mechanism to press to unlock it, after 10 minutes using ChatGpt (and it didn't have the correct answer) I went in YouTube and found if you open another tool it will unlock the blade. Rotated open another tool and it worked like charm, blade closed easily. This is not intuitive or obvious and if someone doesn't know it can be very dangerous to force a blade closed. Maybe it said something on package, not sure, but I do recall scanning the package once or twice and the unlock mechanism didn't jump out, and who reads a package of a multitool anyway. In any case it's a 5 start multi tool if you understand that to close any open tool, you need to open another tool. SOG please make this clear to your customers.

First one broke. Promark made it right!
Original Review (3 stars): I got this for Christmas and really loved it! Size is perfect for a fifth pocket and I always had it on me. The tools are pretty good except the flat screwdriver is a very thin one and bent when I turned a screw with pretty light pressure. The pliers were nice and smooth, and worked very well until I sheared the rivets that hold them together (see pic). Great while it lasted, but the bottom line is that it broke after two and a half months. Edit (5 stars): after the above review, Promark contacted me and not only sent a replacement, but partially refunded me for the trouble. Thatโs an easy 5 stars and I would absolutely buy from them again.

Great compromise between size and functionality
I had several small multitools before like the Gerber Dime, Leatherman Style PS and others. I accidentally broke the Dime pliers before using very little force and I feel like the Style PS is also not robust enough for my daily routine. On the other hand, I also don't want to carry a full blown multitool on my pockets or belt, because of its size & weight. PROS: - SOG PowerLite is a multitool that is right in the middle of these 2 categories: its not small enough that it might break if you need to use a little bit of force and it's not large/heavy enough that is uncomfortable to carry in a pocket; - It has a variety of decent tools that are very useful including knife, scissors, pliers, a magnetic hex bit holder, a corkscrew, among others. CONS: - Poor quality control: I had to order a replacement for SOG PowerLite as the tool would display a gap when closed. The replacement also has this problem but the gap is smaller. As I don't have the patience required to ask for a replacement of the replacement, I'll keep it. - Did I mentioned poor quality control? Both tools were very greasy when taken out of the package. I had to clean them up to remove the oil that was all over the place. Not sure if this was intentional to prevent the tool from rust, but I didn't had to clean any of my Leatherman's and Gerber's. - The Awl: the needs of a Swiss Army soldier in 1890 are very different from a modern urban person that might carry this tool as part of their EDC. No one is carrying canvas, leather and cord on their person everyday for emergency repairs of let's say, a backpack or a shoe. Also, anyone considering a multitool for outdoor activities should carry a more robust and reliable full-sized multitool. The Awl should be replaced by something more useful based on modern urban needs;

probably the best small 5th pocket multitool out there
i own about 25 multitools some dating back to the 1980's and this tool is one of the best ones not only as a small one but it competes with some of the larger multitools. i wish it had a tweezer but i will add one myself. i saw somewhere that there is one that fits perfect but i forgot where i saw it. sorry. if u seek it out u will find. lastly, i added a flint and tinder to the corkscrew and it has worked out pretty well. u have to bend the corkscrew a bit and also fanagel the flint and tinder but once its in it will be there when/if u need it. it does not interfere with putting in your 5th pocket or using the tool.

A true pocket tool that is actually usable
I have the Leatherman Skeleton before and while it was beautifully crafted, it's not that useful for DIY around the house. For anything larger than that it's probably too large to carry around everyday. This SOG is a perfect balance between usability and compact size. It's not as pretty or have that nice click compare with Leatherman. But I ends up carrying this everyday and actually use it around the house. I also got a leather pocket to carry it along with the hex drivers. So this is my minimal set of tool that can do most of the task.

A little weak on design and execution... and overall quality control
About a year ago I got a SOG Powerpint. I really liked the compound leverage pliers AND the really smooth operation of deploying them; one could buy the tool just for that feature alone. But as time went on and I was looking for a way to upgrade and "smooth out' my EDC kit, I came across this SOG Powerlitre with a corkscrew. Well, I still have my Leatherman Juice that I bought years ago with its terrible corkscrew implementation (which with its undersized corkscrew, tore the centers out of corks without removing them), and which was one of the reasons for me buying it. The Powerlitre also has a corkscrew function, but on the one I just got, it had a few problems. 1) the corkscrew itself was bent in the center causing to not nest properly in the provided space (this was probably a return), and 2) the corkscrew would not enter the cork no matter how much pressure was applied. Upon closer examination, I found the tip of the corkscrew was parallel with the top surface of the cork. So, I straightened the bend in the corkscrew and then bent the tip so instead of being parallel with the cork surface, it was at about a 45-degree angle allowing it to penetrate the cork surface, and now it works more or less as designed. So, it your interest is in the corkscrew function, pls. note the above. Furthermore, in order to integrate the corkscrew function, apparently a tool or two needed to be removed and the serrated knife was removed. I, and many other reviewers, have found the newer package opener tool to be very desirable and in fact even though the PowerPint didn't have a dedicated package opener, I used the serrated blade for that function. So that brings us back to the tool set on the PowerLitre. In order to include the corkscrew function, I'm assuming something had to go, and we end up with no serrated blade, but we do have a hooked seat belt cutter. I don't know about all of you, but in my 60+ years of driving, I've never had the need to cut my seat belt to escape my car, but I open packages on average of one a day. I would certainly prefer a package opener tool over the hooked seat belt cutter. And finally, SOG has addressed the issue of hex bits, and or extensions, tending to work their way out of the very nice holder with the weak magnet between the handles when opened fully. In the Powerlitre, they did this by incorporating a curved metal piece with micro notches in it which can be swung over and hooked to the other side handle and keep the handles together so the 1/4" bit is securely retained. Well, I can testify that this thing is there, and if you can break it loose and swing it over, and push it down to engage, it will hold the bit more securely. Due to the stiffness of the installed retainer, this took me about 15 minutes to do, with a few abraded fingers and thumbs... but I did do it. These "nits" are something I would expect from some off-shore company just trying to get into the multi-tool business, not a well-established company like SOG.

Daily use item
The size is perfect for my watch-pocket on my jeans. The finish is a cool denim steel that is easy to keep clean. The function is pretty good. My only complaint is the lock is kind of a pain to deal with and feels flimsy. That aside, I'd recommend this to a friend.

Not a Leatherman Multi-tool, but still a good value for the money
First of all, there is another Internet store that offers this product for all most half the $$$, But after much digging into the low price offered, In a hard to find notice, that company does admit that what it is selling are actually factory seconds that cannot be sold retail, and are intended as a source of replacement 'spare parts', so you get what you pay for... For the price, the SOG Price Liter does offer a good selection of tools, which in some comparison, is even better then the Leatherman's products in the similar size/weight range. (They include the itty, bitty Straight/Philips Jeweler's/Eyeglass screw bits that the less expensive small Leatherman products lack...) However, the product is not manufactured in the US like the Leatherman products, and the production quality is not up to the Leatherman standards. I have found that out of the box, the locking knife blade is somewhat dull and needed to be sharpened. Fortunately, I already had a pen knife sharpener that with just 2 strokes made the blade as sharp as a Leatherman knife blade. Reading other reviews on the SOG Power liter product, they say that the other sharp edged tools on the SOG product (e.g. Gut Hock, Scissor, Can Opener. And the Cork Screw, which is what I bought this SOG product for is a fantastic design !!!) which I have not tried yet, may need to be sharpened as well. I don't blame SOG for having these edged tools on the dull side, as regardless, with regular use these tools must be rehappened regardless. You just need to know the tools required to do this. Leatherman does sell a multi-tool sharpener that can handle all but that Can Opener fine. And that embedded diamond dust file on the more expensive multi-tool products can do that thing just fine....

It's true - some of the tools are very tight - the scissors are very difficult to access
So it's extremely hard to find a tool that has pliers, one handed blade, locking tools, bottle opener, can opener, scissors and corkscrew. Basically the SOG Powerlitre is the ONLY tool with these features. Even in the vast catalog of Victorinox knives don't have every one of these features in one tool, you have to compromise one of these features. I wanted this tool to permanently store in the car, because at home most of the time I use an actual tool rather than a multitool, and outside the home I ought to carry a multitool that has every feature I have ever found useful outside the home. Then I can save my EDC for something more specialized and fun, rather than having to carry a large multitool. Strangely enough - the SOG Powerlitre, being both small and having ALL these features is the only tool in the entire world that can serve my purposes. However.. the tool is not pleasant to use. At least on the blade side, the tools are easy to use. But on the scissors side, you will break your fingernails trying to get the scissors to come out, it is that hard. The other tools are also very stiff to come out, but at least they're not fingernail breaking. I found that the best way to access the scissors is by opening up the other tools and accessing the scissors from the inside - be careful though because one of these other tools is the can opener so you can stab your finger trying to access the scissors. Once you do get the scissors out, I recommend you open and close it several hundred times to hopefully loosen it up a bit. EDIT: I bought a second one, and the second one worked properly - the scissors were easy to access like the rest of the tools, so it seems like it's a hit or miss which you get. However I can attest that if you get one of the tight ones, it will loosen up. I opened and closed the scissors for over an hour while watching a show, and it is now able to come out "normally" with my fingernail. If you're wondering why I bought a second one, it's because it's the only tool in the world with exactly the set of tools I want in a tool that I keep permanently in the car, and since it has this unusual combination, and since I keep it in the car anyway for emergency (as opposed to an EDC, for which I expect to have a higher quality of fit and finish), I wanted to get a second one in case they stopped making it like Leatherman stopped making the Juice. Overall, as a car tool, this Powerlitre is very good.

The tools are so stiff, I need a 2nd multitool just to open them...I expected better from S.O.G.
