THE book to start learning Arabic. If you use all three books of this series, you would have a level that exceeds intermediate. If you are a total beginner, use the Gateway to Arabic handwriting book, then start with this one. You get a very good grounding in the simplest of Arabic grammar, without all the fluff topics like buying plane tickets or what's for dinner tonight. This means that you have an excellent base from which to start reading Arabic and actually understanding it, rather than having lots of superfluous vocabulary. It is advisable to have a teacher, and that does not have to be an Arab! I learnt from native English speakers who had studied this book as beginners themselves."Madinah Book 1", as it is so widely informally known, gives you the roots of your Arabic tree - others only give you the branches.

Its a great start to learning.

Ich hatte diesen Kurs gewählt, weil ich mit englischen Lehrbuchautoren aufgrund ihres pragmatischen didaktischen Vorhens gute erfahrungen habe Diese haben sich in diesem Fall nicht erfülllt. Hier wird direkt zu Anfang die Beherrschung der arabischen Schrift vorausgesetzt, bekanntlich eine Hürde für Anfänger. Daher-von einigen didaktischen Fehlern abgesehen-für Anfänger NICHT geeignet!
