can i use third party toner?

I have used many different types of laser printers. I always use the toner from third party except the 1st one which is from the original package. You need to read the reviews about toner before picking it up. The most obvious drawback is that many 3rd party ones do not last as long as they claimed, like only 1500 from 2600 pages. Well, you only pay half or even quarter price.

I am only familiar with b&w laser printers. can this printer also print b&w? are 2 different toner cartridges needed, 1 for color & 1 for b&w ?

You are so welcome. I had nice inkjet hp printers that had 2 cartridges for ink. One was color and the other black ink. I liked them and had the ability to copy. I thought they were pretty nice for the small price I paid next to this one. However, I got about 2 to 3 years out of each of them. Still wish I had chosen one of them. (If you are going to do a LOT of printing, you may want to stay with the laser.)

Does it come ready to print (with cartridges/toner)?

Yes. With a standard cartridge. I have the black and white AND the color Samsung laser printers. Love them

Does this printer come with cartridges (and which capacity)?

Ad states "starter cartridge" comes with printer when new, good for 700 b&w. Replacement cartridge good for 1500.

If you don't compromise on quality, then this is the printer for you.

This printer is amazing. Print your stuff on "Best Quality" & the result is super. The letters & pictures stand out beautifully. It looks as if the letters (font) are engraved & stand out. The print out is second to none in this range & little above it. Be sure not to use less then 80gsm paper because it will curl with the heat within the printer while printing. If you want quality & don't compromise on it, then this is THE printer for you. I had bought this printer for less then Rs 20,000/ but surprises of surprises.... the cost has escalated to almost Rs 30,000/-Calvert Gonsalves (Goa)
