Will this clear up a bacterial bloom cloudy white water?

Yes What I do is run it for a solid month to kill all viruses bacteria and algae. Then I put it on the timer with the light so it only runs 10 hours a day, and that helps maintain the water quality, but also helps prolong the bulb life. And I typically go threw a bulb every six months at full time . But at half time they last about 9 to 11 months.

Reduces Algae, But....

Don't underestimate the size of this device. Lying on its side, it doesn't fit into any compartment of my 34" sump, nor is the sump water deep enough for it to stand vertically. It isn't an attractive addition to the display tank, either. These units also have a tendency to leak voltage into the water, so be prepared for the occasional jolt. There's a reason the alternatives are so expensive.

Too noisy

I had to replace the pump of my killing machine 24w and got this spare part. I don't know if it's original or not - it fit well and it works well but it's way too noisy (way more than the original one). I will keep it on for few days, if it's still so loud (as I expect), I will return it.
