Buy the genuine ink.
I know it's tempting to buy the knockoff ink, but don't do it. I tried it once, and it screwed up my printer. Fortunately, I was able to get it working again. The genuine ink costs a lot more, but it lasts a really long time, and it won't screw up your printer. Sometimes it pays not to be cheap. This is one of those times.

I Won't Buy Generics Anymore
When my Brother printer ran out of ink a while ago, I chose to go with a generic ink because of the price difference between it and the OEM Brother brand of ink. While I saved a little money then, I noticed immediately that the Black was not as dark and I was unable to see how many printed sheets the cartridges were estimated to have left. However, the main problem arose a couple of months later when the Black ink jet wound up getting clogged. I purchased a printer jet cleaner kit, and, after many failed attempts to clean the printer head over the course of a week I finally had to give up and had to buy a new printer. This OEM cartridge works exactly how you would expect. The print quality is excellent, I can see how many estimated printed sheets I have left and I have had no problems with clogging in any way. I know others have had success using generic ink cartridges and I may have been among few who had a problem. Still, I think I'll stick to the OEM cartridges going forward.

Great label maker and is fun to use. Screen is a little hard to read so you need to have good lighting.
