Dibbs Farms Hybrid Zoysia Grass Seed Hybrid Zoysia grass is the progeny of three parent plants which have yellow-white flowers. Each parent was selected for superior attributes such as leaf texture, color, disease resistance, drought tolerance, fall color retention, uniform color when dormant, and early spring green up. Hybrid Zoysia Grass is medium dark green color, a medium density, and will tolerate light shade. It is planted in late spring to early summer with a seeding rate of 1 to 2 pounds of seed per 1000 square feet. The seed should be very lightly covered with soil by raking. Cover the seeded area with straw to retain soil moisture during the germination period. Water the newly seeded lawn very lightly three or four times per day to keep the seed moist for best germination. The seed will germinate in ten or more days. Gradually reduce watering frequency, but give the lawn longer soakings to establish the new grass root system. In general, the zoysias are slow to cover completely (thus more costly to establish), less drought-tolerant than bermudagrass, and recommended for lawn use only when the homeowner is willing to provide the required maintenance. Review: This grass was the answer to my weed problem - Bought this for my mother's yard in Lakeland FL after years of fighting weeds. After a week of germination in large trays lined with wet paper towels, the seeds were spread throughout the back yard. Three months later, they are already taking over from the weeds. Requires less water and looks great. If it keeps spreading at this rate, I should be weed free by the end of the Summer. Review: Grass seed - This grass seed didn’t germinate at all!!! Worst product I ever bought. I did it in small are to see if it will germinate but it failed.
