Levely, evenly distributed ground is the first step to fill perfectly with finely ground espresso. 3-leaf clover dial side down 3 times to evenly distribute the ground. Turn the tool over and use a flat base palm tamper. Firmly packed in the ground allows you to pull espresso with proper pressure. The height of the distributor allows you to have some control over the depth of the pack (however, a full basket is required to get a tight pack and high quality pour spout. If the basket is not fully full, the tool will not reach the ground. For best results, clean the top of the basket with a flat edge before leveling and tamping.) Use the dispensing/leveling side to evenly distribute the ground in the porta filter and flip it to the adjustable tamper side for a uniform tamping every time. HOW IT WORKS: Step 1 - Place the desired amount of freshly ground coffee into the Portafilter basket. Step 2 - Pull the distributor side down to the shallow depth and place the distributor with the blade side down on the portafilter. Step 3 - Gently rotate the distributor until the coffee grounds are evenly distributed and flat. If the distributor does not reach the coffee, please adjust the depth accordingly. Note: At this stage, you don't want to apply strong pressure to the ground. Enough to level the coffee in the basket. Step 4 - Turn the distributor over and extend the tamper (flat surface) to the maximum height. Hit the ground at your preferred pressure. Step 5 - To perform a consistent tamping every time, adjust the depth of the tamper to match the depth of the tamp you created in Step 4.
