Temperature is the key! DON'T BELIEVE BAD REVIEWS!
That's an amazing starter with its unique ability of providing soft and nice flavor, I just made simple milk buns with it and these have a great texture inside and a nice taste! I made these without salt to make this starter uncover its own taste specifically. No acidic taste in comparison with the SanFrancisco-style starters (I love these too anyway). And no strong yeast smell of course. Dough rises very well with this starter, and in the oven it rises actively too. And the most important point from my experience with growing this starter - it likes a bit higher temperatures to make bubbles actively than others, I figured out that temperatures about 30C~34C are comfortable for it. Initially, I got it actively making bubbles after the third feeding, but I was surprised why there are no bubbles after the fourth one, I suspected the temperature change and as I had no special heater I just got the jar with starter up the running Raspberry Pi with passive cooling (large heatsink) like: pi > air gap > grille > jar, where the temp was ~32C, and the starter got actively making bubbles again.

Easy instructions and fast to rise!
This was my second time trying to create a starter since I seemed to neglect the last one I was “caring for”! This one was super easy and very successful for me, compared to last time. The order arrived really quickly and I followed the instructions really carefully, but they weren’t complicated. After 3 days it had already doubled and was full of bubbles! I think the type of flour (should be unbleached) and water advice may have helped a lot. This was much easier than my first time when I spent weeks trying to start one from scratch, not to mention how much flour I used in the process! Although it’s just a small amount of starter granules you get with it, they did exactly what they were supposed to do! I used it to make bread successfully today and am keeping the starter it in the fridge. Now I just need to remember to feed it occasionally!

Bad starter
Must have gotten a dud batch because it has not done a thing. Super disappointed. Was getting back into sourdough and should have just got Eve from the southern sourdough company again.

What a great way to buy starter!
Dehydrated sourdough starter is a genius idea! I was involved in a bad accident and my starter was neglected for a LONGGGGGG time. It was on the counter and nobody here thought to put it in the fridge while I was in hospital. It took over a month to make that starter from scratch and I was not thrilled to go thru all that again. So buying an established starter is a great option for busy people or those who want to get started baking faster. Easy instructions on rehydration and thoughtful packaging. Thank you so much!
