Received Wrong Boots
This is my third pair of Thorogood boots purchased from Amazon. I'm thoroughly sold on Thorogood's quality and comfort and will never buy anything else.But... I ordered the 1957 waterproof safety toe and received a different model. The Good - The wrong boots are the right size, they're Thorogoods, they have a steel toe.The Bad - The boots I received are not waterproof, they are not what was pictured when I bought them. That said, I had to have boots right now so I'm keeping the wrong ones. There is no price difference between what I ordered and what I got so I didn't get pinched there.Honestly I'm not even mad about it. I just wish you could always get exactly what you order.I have one pair of boots being renewed and my second pair suffered a catastrophic failure due to lack of maintenance on my part. So I was out of boots and Amazon Prime got me back into a pair within 2 days.Thorogood boots - You just can't go wrong with them. They're comfortable out of the box, require very, very little break in time and are reasonably durable.I mow lawns in Florida for a living and my first pair lasted 3 years before needing to be shipped off to be resoled.Second pair lasted 1 month short of 3 years before dry rot (lack of maintenance) got the leather at the base of the tongue. My feet hurt most of the time due to neuropathy and most footwear causes me pure agony. Not the Thorogoods. Best boot ever made. Try them, you'll love them.

No tongue issue! Read this! Comfortable and Well Made Boots!
I am writing this review to hopefully help people in the future who are looking to buy these boots and have read or will read some of the negative reviews about the tongue and how it makes the boot very uncomfortable. I am here to tell you that yes, it can be very uncomfortable, unbearable even, if you don’t fold the tongue properly. I, like many of the other bad reviews on here, put the boots on for the first time and noticed what seems to be a lot of material there for the tongue. Wrong way #1 I found was to tuck it flat to the side of my ankle and laced up the boots. It was painful, too much material in the ankle area. The material bunches up and digs into your ankle when you walk. I also saw reviews to just cut the tongue and that way the material has a place to go and doesn’t bind. Although I was very close to doing this, I could bring myself to do it to boots of this quality. This is partially Wrong way #2, although it would solve the issue. The picture I included shows the correct way to fold the tongue so the material is in front of the ankle instead of binding next to it. I am a week and a half in of wearing these boots 9-10hrs a day and walk an average of about 6k-8k steps a day. These boots are comfortable and I expect them to last 2-3 years before needing a re-sole or anything with my average use. Hope this helps potential future buyers! Also in case you need to know, I have worn Red Wings a lot in the past and these boots are about the same comfort and quality in my opinion. I actually had a pair of Red Wings on order but they were on back order and going to be a while so I took a chance on the Thorogood boots. I am very pleased!

TONGUE ISSUE GOES AWAY
This is a great work boot. I saw all the reviews about the tongue digging into your ankle and I also experienced the same thing. I wore the boots hard for the first week to break them in and once the leather softens up there is no more issue with the tongue of the boot. Fits very comfortably now. For sizing I’d say going down half a size from your true to size. The standard width is snug, but I fee like that’s how a boot should fit. There is still more than enough space in the tow box so don’t worry. I had to return my true to size sizing because the Boots just felt too big (heel was rising) and I was also almost tripping over things I usually wouldn’t. If you have wide feet at all you should get the wider versions or order two pairs and just return the other when you find the right fit. This is my first pair and you can tell it is a very well made boot. These will last a long time.

Nice boots but sloppy tongue and short laces
Very good boots. Only downsides are the tongue and lace length. The tongue is sewn halfway up the sides. If you try to lace up the boot and tuck the tongue flat, the sides fold over which creates a ridge which irritates the foot. If you lace up and just let the tongue go wherever it wants, it’s comfortable but sloppy looking. The laces are 54” but need to be about 58” to be able to lace up to the last eyelets.Other than that, great boots.

Great boots. True to size unless you plan on wearing thick socks.
I first ordered a size 8M (regular). When I tried it on it fit perfect just a little snug when I put on my slightly thicker Merino wool socks. I feel that they would've broken in just fine but around my pinky toe was just a little too tight. I spoke with thorogood through Instagram and also TheBootGuy and they both recommended I get a 8W (wide aka 8EE). This fit is perfect. I kept the size 8 until. I recieved the wide version so I tried on both side by side and boy the wide gives me just enough space all around... I never had to get wide sneakers or shoes but when your working all day on your feet it makes a difference. Especially with the extra space the steel toe takes up. If you plan on wearing with thin socks they are true to size. If you plan on thick socks or double socks. Def go half size up or wide size. Beware with half size up as I was close to doing this until the boot guy informed me that going half size up can cause the steel to dig in when kneeling down. Also can cause heel slip. Hope this helps. Your probably gonna end up having to get 2 sizes to find the right fit. Unless you get lucky the first time around. Steel toe always takes a bit of trying on. And boy are they waterproof just had them in a 9 hour shift straight down poor and My toes are dry and warm.

Overpriced, worst boots ever, but they look nice.
For an almost 300 dollar pair of boots that people sing so many praises over, I am beyond disappointed, I have surpassed anger...I completely regret making this purchase. The only positive thing I can mention is that when I pulled them out of the box, they were the sexiest boots I've ever seen, but aside from that, they are complete trash.I work in electrical construction, I work pretty average 40 hour work weeks performing many different tasks with varying levels of difficulty, not digging in the dirt or standing in water or oil all day or at all.....nothing remotely abusive has happened to these boots and they are already falling apart after a few months. I have worn many pairs of boots costing under 100 dollars that have surpassed these in many ways, albeit not as sexy, but felt good on my feet for almost 2 years at a time, longer with regular cleaning and a in-sole replacement.Pros- Sexy Clown Boot- comfy insoleCons- I wear size 13 and these look and feel like a size 17, people actually made jokes constantly about them- They weigh more than any other boot I've worn, like a pair of bowling balls on my feet- I'm not fat, and somewhat on the leaner side and the tongue just crinkles up and crushes against my ankles no matter what I do to try and fix it, and after lacing and tying it up snug it's so uncomfortable, bordering painful- They are hot as hell and my feet sweat like hell, changing your socks a few times a day is a must with these.- My number one con: I feel noticeably more fatigued after wearing these boots all day. The insoles don't negate the other issues happening with these boots for me....at all.- They are falling apart, the already barely there tread is worn halfway down, as if they weren't slippery already

Best quality boots out there!
My husband has always worn Danners but when his job required steel toe ones the Danner was not up to par, dug into his toes so bad. He went with a wide in Thorogood and had to half size down as they ran a little big. But the quality is so amazing a d they live up to their name and price. He tells me everyday how comfortable they are they didn't even have to be broken in. Quality leather and stitching. You cant go wrong with this boot.

High quality and comfortable work boot.
Great boots. As always Thorogood has a quality boot. I would rather spend money for a work boot that will last and stay comfortable than have to by a cheap pair that falls apart and doesn’t last. Most importantly, made in USA
