Does using Pre-Shave Cream really make a noticeable difference?

Customers report an extra layer of protection, a smoother razor glide, less tugging and a more comfortable shave. Particularly those with coarse facial hair, or frequent razor irritation when making multiple passes with a safety or straight razor.

How much Pre-Shave Cream should I use? When and how do I apply it?

Use an almond-sized amount and massage a thin layer onto your face (dry or after a hot towel) in gentle circular motions. Let it sit for 1–2 minutes to soften the beard, then apply your shaving cream or soap directly on top and shave as usual.

How long should I let the cream sit on my skin before applying my shave soap or foam?

Let it work its magic for 30 to 60 seconds. This gives the menthol, eucalyptus, and stearic acid time to soften the beard hair before lathering over top.

What does the Refreshing formula feel like? Is the "tingle" too intense for sensitive skin?

Delivers a crisp cooling sensation with signature eucalyptus-and-menthol scent. Most users find the cooling effect invigorating rather than intense. If sensitive to menthol try Proraso's Sensitive Skin (White) formula for a gentler experience.

Can I use Pre-Shave Cream with any shave cream or razor, and does it replace my shaving cream?

Use as a prep step, not a replacement for your shaving cream or soap. Think of it as an extra shield of protection between your skin and the blade. Helps reduce friction for a smoother, more comfortable shave.

Menthol Madness

I can see why some get addicted to this product. This pre-shave packs a hefty hit of menthol that makes the eyes water and clears the sinus. It really helps with raising stubble and adds even more comfort to the shave. I'm smitten with it at first use (it was delivered a couple of hours ago) If you like menthol in your shaving routine, get some of this, it's heaven. I paired it with the Proraso Eucalyptus and menthol shave cream and the equivalent aftershave, I'm one very happy convert to this new addition to my routine.

Trustworthy Brand, Game-Changer for Coarse-Haired Gentlemen

I bought this product for my husband who is new to safety razor shaving after combing through shaving forums online for a solution to some of the shaving problems he was having. He has extremely coarse facial hair and the forums all recommended using a pre-shave conditioning cream and many people suggested this one among a few others. I have to be honest; I (as a graphic designer/illustrator) chose this product not only on positive reviews but also on product aesthetics; I love the vintage-looking brand and glass jar. It makes me believe that Proraso cares about quality and is trustworthy, as it has been in business for over 100 years. The product smells amazing and my husband enjoys the cooling feel of it. It effectively softens his facial hair and makes for a clean, smooth shave and almost never experiences the irritation he once did. It's really a shaving game changer and contributes to my husband's newfound love for the art of shaving and his daily shaving routine.
