The Advanced Personal Filter Straw was also tested for removal of Chlorine (99.58%) and Heavy Metals including Aluminum, Arsenic, Cadmium, Copper Lead & Mercury (97.5%). - REMOVAL OF IODINE - Trace amounts of iodine are found naturally in some foods and water supplies and studies show that iodine is beneficial to most humans in limited amounts. Iodine has been used for years to kill contaminants in water. This filter is designed to protect the user from excessive iodine in the water while also using iodine to kill any bacteria. The Advanced Personal Filter Straw is designed with multiple stages to remove any iodine before it reaches the user. Iodinated Resin (which is EPA approved) is used to KILL the Bacteria found in contaminated water, not just filter bacteria like other filter straws, by allowing the water to flow through the iodinated resin which kills the bacteria. The next stage of the filter removes the iodine from the water which makes it safe for human consumption. This same filter will remove excessive amounts of iodine should it be present in the water supply naturally.
- EFFECTIVE PROTECTION IN ALL TYPES OF WATER - while most filters only tell you how well they perform in clear water the Advance Personal Filter Straw is designed to perform well in all types of water. If the water you are drinking from is Turbid and Stagnant then you should expect the filter to last about 25 gallons or more. We provide you with a FREE Back-flush Kit that helps you to restore the filtering capabilities to the straw should it get clogged. But keep in mind, water can look crystal clear like a mountain stream, but can still kill you from impurities in that water. However, clear water doesn't clog up the straw as quickly as dirty water can. So in this environment the Advanced Personal Filter Straw will work effectively to purify your water for 200 or more gallons of clear water. Other companies only provide the life based on clear water which is a bit misleading because that isn't typically the type of water you will find in an emergency. The Advanced Filter Straw life is determined by the type of water and how often you back-flush the straw. As long as you can draw water through the straw, the straw is effectively still protecting you from harmful contaminates.
