good item
I purchased this 40amp dc to dc charger with mppt several months ago while completing an overlanding build. I previously used a solenoid to charge to second battery and was unable to keep to charge the battery completely regardless of the drive time or battery level. I rely on this battery for a 12volt fridge, lights, and other minor power needs while off grid for several days. I purchased this unit to complete my power needs as I finished my build. It does everything it advertises and it does it well. I have ran this unit for approximately several months with not one problem. I tend to over build my systems so I used larger than recommended wiring and I am very picky about my connections. I depend on this vehicle to take me on 3000 mile trips and get my family and me home safely and this charge controller exceeds my needs.

Working now
After installing, I got no indication that the alternator was charging. I had no problems with solar. I went to trouble shoot the next day and it was “working”. But 3 hrs into my trip my devices were showing 10.5V, and when I checked the output it was only 11.2v from the charger to my battery. I was getting on and off again functionality. Checked all connections and grounds. Thought I had it, but still Not charging consistently. It was almost drawing power as well. When I was on full solar I had no issues, but when on alt it would fluctuate between 10.1V and 13.8V. I checked the battery and it was showing 13.8v at resting. I’m limping it into a faulty device Edit: working with seller to trouble shoot, they ultimately gave me a second one. It’s works as it should. I have a 100ah battery and between the 175w solar panel and the occasional driving. It keeps it topped off and my fridge and starlink have been powered non stop

Charge fast use alternator
I use this in a VW van along with a 100 amp hour Li Ion battery in the cabin.if With the Bluetooth model you will know all your stats on battery voltage and charging current will better. Used it with both alternator and solar. Keep in mind it can do 40 amp on alternator or 40amp solar but not at the same time. I select the alternator charge when driving so it will have it full when I driving about 3 hours.

Just as described 25A dc-dc charger
Right out of the box this thing was well packed with a perfect small/compact size with clear instructions. I will update more detailed information once I get it permanently installed. So far I have only bench tested all the functions just to make sure it was 100% good to go and it was. It’s exactly what I needed. All wires were10 gauge and well marked with a good length of wire to work with. Note that it will only work with “12V solar panels” up to 300W Just like most chargers this does not have an on off switch “that would be nice upgrade along with an accessible blade fuse” but that’s not always needed depending on how you wire it into your system. Because As long as it’s connected to a battery, it has power and sitting idol the lights are on and the unit is pulling a small amount of power maybe around 10mA

It does solar and alternator charging. It's also ip68 rated.
Affordable and does the job.

Reliable 40A DC charger with solar priority
Solid build. Feels durable and sealed well for outdoor use. I have not mounted it yet, but bench testing shows it works as expected. Charging a 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery via solar input runs without issues. The green wire solar input is straightforward. Needs an inline fuse for solar, worth noting. MPPT function tracks properly and removes the need for a separate regulator. LED indicators are clear enough for quick checks. Cables come neatly labelled and use common Anderson connectors, which simplifies setup. You can set solar priority, useful when relying mostly on panels. It supports multi-stage charging and battery types like lithium and AGM (I tested only a standby Lithium battery). Pros: + Solid build quality + MPPT works, no external regulator needed + Solar priority setting (can enable) + Labelled cables, Anderson connectors + Handles LiFePO4 charging cleanly Cons: - Rather basic LED interface Overall, it performs as expected for a 40A DC-DC charger and integrates well with a solar setup.
