Short Circuit : Something wonderful has happened—Number Five is alive! Steve Guttenberg ( Three Men and a Baby , Cocoon ) and Ally Sheedy ( Breakfast Club , WarGames ) co-star in this high tech comedy adventure about Number Five, a robot who escapes into the real world after he short circuits in an electrical storm and decides that he's human. Because he's carrying destructive weapons, the Defense Department and his designer (Guttenberg) are desperate to find him. But Number Five is being protected by a young woman (Sheedy) who is teaching him a gentler way of life. Short Circuit 2 : High-voltage, fast-paced comedy for the entire family. Number Five, A.K.A. Johnny Five, that incredible lovable robot, is back and taking the big city by storm. More "human" than ever, upbeat Johnny's out for some "urban input", but some street hoods see his innocence as their high-tech ticket to easy street. Review: Could be less pricey…. - Classic! Review: Two for the price of ONE--and FANTASTIC movies - I loved the original Short Circuit--then found the sequel--both are fantastic movies that have you laughing from start to finish. The only drawback--if you can call it that, is that it's a double-sided DVD which is not my favorite format--I prefer separate discs; but I've used both sides a couple of times now--showed them to my grandkids who are old enough to handle the material (I think it's PG-13), and they positively loved the movies. A certain *other* movie came out which seems to have taken a LOT of material (most particularly the actual design of the robot) and produced a fairly well known motion picture much later--this one (Short Circuit) was made before all the computer generated hocus pocus--and still beats that one like a drum. Get this and treat yourself to some really great laughs.

Love Johnny 5!!
I love this movie... I saw this movie Once because it was back in the 80s and no one streams the movie. I love that short circuit and short circuit 2 was on here but I was little upset about short circuit 2 as I've never seen it before and when I did see it it definitely wasn't like the first one. Best quote ever, "Hey laser lips, your mama was a snow blower!" HA! What's interesting is you see Johnny 5 everywhere, the robot, even here on Amazon.

Great Compilation DVD
While inevitably the first film is better than the second, this was a beautiful package-deal I just couldn't pass up! "Short Circuit" and its sequel were top-of-the-line 1980s sci-fi/romantic comedy fare that helped define that unique genre. I loved these movies, which delved into the not-so-unique question of what constitutes 'life.' Johnny-Five gains consciousness through a freak accident, and his adventures are a fun romp as he tries to escape the scrap pile with the help of the human stars of the film.
