Great electric knife!
I used it cutting up a 27lb Christmas ham. Did a wonderful job. Each cut was smooth and easy. I had no issues at all. I just bought this electric knife but I had a Hamilton Beach electric knife for 30 years and it always performed perfectly.

Let's Cut To The Chase....It's A Good Knife
UPDATE: MARCH, 2016: The knife started acting up in the past few weeks (body getting hot and stopping dead a few times). It finally died on Easter Sunday. For me it lasted about 2 1/4 years (or just past the warranty). We used it fairly often so for the price I can't complain. Original review: For the price I did not expect too much, just an OK knife. This is a good knife. While it is unremarkable and really just a basic knife, it performs really well. The dimensions are as follows: Blades: 9" when mounted (about 12" overall) Knife body: about 10" long. Approximately 7 1/2" to 8" around, where you hold it for use. Electrical cord: Approx. 5 feet. The twin blades mount and eject easily. The knife is not heavy nor cumbersome. It fits well into my hand and my wife's - we are of average height and size. The trigger on the underside of the knife is easy to activate and use. The knife cuts smoothly through meats. I've used it on roast beef, turkey, chicken and pork roast without any problems. It cuts cleanly and does a nice job producing thick or thin slices of meat. It works effortlessly even on thick/dense meat. It also comes with a gray plastic hard case which holds the knife, blades in their own little compartment, and user guide. Hamilton Beach warrantees the product for 2 years. At this price, for what more can you ask?

after 20 years my old hamilton beach knife gave out ... i immediatly purchased another one
After 20 years or so of use, my original hamilton beach carving knife gave out, after I dropped the knife on the floor. And since I had gotten so many years of good use out of the knife and since the knife always gave me the results I wanted from an electric knife, I immediately purchased a new hamilton beach to replace the old one. To my eye, the old knife and the new knife are remarkably identical in shape and functionality. The carved piece at the front bottom of the knife is slightly longer on the new model but that's about all I can see that is outwardly different. The case that comes with the new knife is far more modest than the old knife being that the old knife case was slightly large, was lined more nicely and had better compartments to hold the blades and the fork, but that modified design isn't a major concern for me. The knife size, shape, grip, ease of use (etc.) is all as good with the new knife as with my trusty 20-year old model. For the price, this is a nice version of an electric carving knife.

great for meats, not so much for vegetables
I bought this Hamilton Beach electric knife because I broke my right wrist and could not use that hand to stabilize the foods I was cutting. It cuts meats very well, even without stabilizing the meat with the meat fork (which is included.) Not so for vegetables -- I sawed on a head of cabbage for a good 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't my technique -- it just was not working! And that was even with someone holding the cabbage head still, which was not the way I wanted to use it anyway. The motor does feel hot after I've been using it for four or five minutes, so I take a break while it cools down. The way the knife is designed, you can put it on the counter & the blade will remain up in the air so that it doesn't scratch or damage countertops. That also keeps the blade clean while I'm taking my break. I really like the little storage case, which keeps all the parts and pieces together, and I also like that you can put the blades in the dishwasher. I'd like it better if it cut vegetables too, but just for meat it is still definitely worth the money!

Good Product
Replacement for a Hamilton Knife that just quit after 20 years of use. Hope this one lasts that long! Easy to use. Carved thin slices of roasted chicken with ease. Wish there was a button you could push so you wouldn't have the hold the on button the whole time you were cutting, but comfort-wise its OK. I wouldn't be without an electric knife.

Safe and easy way to cut large food items
For older people like myself or anyone with manual dexterity difficulties such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, arthritis, etc., this is a godsend. The blades attach and detach easily; easy to clean. The storage case is good, better than sticking parts in a drawer so they could get separated and lost. In cases where you can't move your fingers well anymore the trigger is important for operational ease and safety. Highly recommend this item.

Some Assembly Required
As soon as I received the product, I opened everything up and wanted to try it out on some watermelon (channeling my inner Alton Brown). Thing is, only one of the blades would slide down into it's slot. I thought I just needed to add a little more force, but no luck. I tilted the knife down so I could look down into the slots, and I see a machine screw blocking the way. No way that blade is going in there. I turn the knife over and remove the one screw holding the top cover on. I then remove the 4 screws holding the plastic blade slots together and I am able to remove the screw. There are no missing screw holes that I can see, so I'm not sure where this came from. Button everything back up, and the blades slide in fine. Once my wife gets back from the store with some watermelon, I will come back and review it's functionality. It seems pretty sturdy for the low price, but since I had to take it apart to use it, I have to give it 3 stars right now.
