AWESOME. Seven M.2s, three PCIe 5.0 drives, and how many USB ports?! It's a speed beauty.
This is a fantastic motherboard! An LGA1851 board with SEVEN M.2 drive slots, with THREE of them being PCIe 5.0 for under $400? Tremendous value from a brand that has never failed me before, ASUS.My primary need for my new LGA1851 board was the number of M.2 slots and this one did not disappoint. It has the most ports, and the most 5.0 ports that I could find under $500. Most only had 4 ports total with only one or two 5.0 ports. This board's PCIe 5.0 performance is outstanding when you are running a proper compatible 5.0 M.2 drive, like from Samsung, as long as it is properly cooled. The drive cooling is a challenge on this board and I found the built-in heatsinks to be inadequate to cool that many M.2 drives, especially the 5.0 speed drives that get over 10,000MB/s read/write when they are kept cool.My solution was to use third party heatsinks with fans on them for my hottest M.2 drives, including the two 5.0 drives I have. I use both Thermalright HR10 2280 PRO Black SSD Coolers and EZDIY-FAB Shield M.2 SSD Heatsinks with Build-in 20mm PWM Fan on my drives. Both do a great job of lowering the temps on the drives enough for them not to throttle speeds down due to heat. My drives rarely get over 50C under typical stress loads on the drives with these coolers. But with seven M.2 slots, this motherboard doesn't have a lot of room to spare, and you'll find that it is impossible to use third-party heatsinks on ALL seven of the M.2 drives because they are just too close together. So be strategic about which drives to use them on: the ones that will get the hottest (usually the fastest) and the most usage.Other than the plethora of M.2 drive ports on this motherboard. there is also a huge amount of USB and Thunderbolt 4 ports... another huge plus for me considering how many USB accessories I have, including two portable monitors attached to Thunderbolt 4 hubs that supplement my four full-sized monitors plugged into my Nvidia 3060ti video card. With this motherboard, everything just works, fast and beautifully. Just make sure your RAM and CPU are compatible.I highly suggest going to the ASUS website in advance and downloading the latest BIOS onto a USB drive and installing that BIOS first before you set up Windows. Also, make sure you download all of the drivers onto your Windows boot USB drive. When I was building my PC and installing Windows 11, it did not find the Wi-Fi drivers on its own and I had to point to the files I downloaded from ASUS on the USB drive. Oh, yeah, the Wi-Fi speeds on this motherboard are incredible, too! This motherboard is a great value if you can get it under $375 around the time of my review. It's so worth the extra $100 or so you may be tempted to skimp out and get a cheaper one... just invest and get this one, you won't regret it! Feature rich. Stable. Easy to set up and configure
This board is full of features that far more than I can imagine to make use of. Grabbed this one for its rich features, extraordinary m.2 expandability and some advanced ones only available to high end boards. Installed Intel Core 9 Ultra 285K, Asus Astral 5080 OC GPU, G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB RAM, Samsung 9100 and 990 (boot). Compatibility is excellent. First boot was fast and successful. The on-board monitor is excellent. Online documentation is readily available.Benchmark result meets expectation. Still playing with Asus/Intel OC settings for CPU and GPU. Comparing to previous PC building experience, this one is rather easy and straight forward but requires detailed and thorough planning.

Works just fine. Quick start guide was very helpful.
Used this motherboard for an Intel Core Ultra 7 build primarily for gaming with an ASUS 5080. Very pleased with it so far. Installation went smoothly. The quick start guide with numbered steps and its corresponding diagram on the front cover was very helpful as a visual aid to keep me from accidentally plugging something in the wrong slot. Fits well in Antec Flux Wood Mid-Tower E-ATX case. No issues with installation. Error code display was very helpful in diagnosing initial boot issues. Oddly, BIOS does not seem to detect the graphics card or give any GPU options, but the graphics card works just fine and was detected by Windows 11.Overall very happy with my purchase. The build has been complete for about a month and I have had no problems with it so far. It controls the Noctua air cooler and the fans that came with the Antec case just fine. Computer turns on normally and all ports appear to function properly, including ports on the GPU and the case.I would recommend using the built-in heat sinks for the SSDs. Don't buy an SSD with it's own heat sink because you'll either have to remove it (a pain) or leave the heat sink on the motherboard off. I'm pretty happy with the heat sink included with the motherboard, and you won't need a separate heat sink for an SSD. (You WILL need one for the CPU.)The motherboard is a bit pricey, but I specifically wanted an ASUS product for quality and longevity. My last build using an ASUS PRO motherboard with an ASUS GPU lasted for 10 years and only needed to be replaced due to components growing obsolete (it won't run Windows 11 or certain games I want to play). The only components I needed to replace on that build were the CMOS battery, mice and keyboards, and a monitor I broke in a feat of deep personal stupidity. I never had any problems with the ASUS components on my old build, and I expect the same longevity from my new build with this motherboard. So far, I am very pleased with the product and would recommend it for your Intel Core Ultra build. I was looking to use high quality components without necessarily using elite best of the best equipment that would have thrown the build out of my price range, and this fit comfortably within my budget, even if it is pricier compared to some other options. With computer components, a lot of times, you get what you pay for, and this is a high quality product.

Great upgrade. Excellent Quality
Upgraded from Strix z370 e-gaming. The motherboard is of excellent quality as expected from Asus. I have an Intel core ultra 265K with G.Skill 6800 O.C memory and it is completely stable. The motherboard has tons of features and all the overclocking and tweaking options ever needed in the BIOS, improved aesthetics from my previous build. It has ample USB and M2 ports and I like that it has an HDMI and DisplayPort connection along with 2 thunderbolt 4s. With support for the latest technologies like DDR5, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderboltโข 4 and an advanced cooling system, this board will give you maximum performance and stability. If youโre building your first p.c or upgrading an existing one, Strix Z890-E gaming will meet all your needs. Highly recommend this board for stability, features, reliability and aesthetics.

Don't update the bios, ever. (Stay away from Asus)
***EDIT*** I took a chance on buying a z890 intel mb from MSI to see if I'd experience the same problems, and was relieved to find there were none. I have updated the bios on that mb (MSI Z890 Carbon WIFI), installed all the same peripherals and apps, and am experiencing none of the crashing I was experiencing with my "repaired" Asus motherboard. I will not buy anything from Asus ever again.------------------------------For about 5 months, this motherboard was fine. I was running Windows 11 on an i9 Ultra 285k with 98gb of 6400mhz ddr5 and 4 NVME M.2 drives with an RTX4090.I wished it had a more secure GPU lock & release feature, like the MSI boards do. And I wished the faster M.2 slots didn't all leach off the 16x pci-e slot's bandwidth. But these were minor gripes. While it worked, it worked well. Then about a month ago, I had to update the bios. There were Intel security issues in the news, and Asus had a firmware release that was supposed to patch some of these, and the latest bios update which I'd been procrastinating on installing. After installing this... the PC was never the same. It would start freezing up and then eventually have fatal BSOD crashes (black screen of death) after around 5-10 minutes of run time.Asus customer service to the rescue? Unfortunately, not. As most people know, Asus has a bit of a reputation for letting customers down when warranty issues arise. After several hours on the phone with a service rep, going through all the potential fixes. Reinstalling the bios, Reinstalling windows, changing various combinations of bios settings and booting with all the peripherals removed, case fans removed, gpu removed, etc. They gave me an RMA, and a "discount" on paying for my own shipping of the board to their California service center. Two weeks later, it comes back, and they claim they can't recreate the problem, so ask me to try again. It still fails, and what do they say? We will send you an RMA...I don't entirely blame Asus for this issue, as I suspect it's related to the Windows 11 updates that are known to have stability issues with Intel z890 chipsets and 200 series CPUs. But this very specifically began happening after an Asus bios update, and this would signify it's something they need to solve on their end.I am honestly at my wits end with Microsoft & Intel at this stage. Apple, here I come :\

I'm an ASUS believer!
I have been buying ASUS for years. They're quality has proven itself over and over. I upgraded an 8 year old ASUS board for this one. And sold the old board on eBay. Love the outputs, the simplicity of design, and ease of installation. Tons of customizable features and the price is pretty good as well. Great mobo, great company

Nothing Easy About Setting Up This Board
There was nothing easy about setting up this board with an Ultra 9 Processor, NVME Drive, DDR5 RAM and CPU cooler. After the board was set up with the processor, drive and RAM then installed into the case the PC would not post, and I was unable to access the UEFI for several hours. I attempted to update the UEFI to the latest version by using the USB flash method on the back of the board, but nothing would happen. The board would power on and only the fans would spin but it would then go immediately into a dark screen. I tried swapping out the HDMI cable to no avail, so I came to the conclusion that it was defective and decided to RMA it. Before taking it apart and packing it I left it running in the case and went to dinner. When I came back low and behold it was showing the UEFI settings. I was then able to use the EZ flash UEFI update the latest version. I then went through the settings with no problem and set it to my specifications and restarted the board with a USB drive inserted with Windows 11. What started happening now was it would not boot to the USB drive to install Windows 11 and would go right back into the settings. I tried several different USB sticks with Windows Media creation tool then Rufus and then Balena Etcher and could not get the board to boot from USB. I went through all the settings and could not find anything that would be causing this so I placed a call to Asus phone support and the tech went through the settings with me and could find anything wrong, so a case was filed and elevated to a higher support level. I spent an entire day till the early morning hours and then I noticed something that said security keys under the advanced section in the UEFI, and it offered the ability to delete them, so I deleted them and made new ones and voila, when the board rebooted it went directly to the USB with the WIndows Media Creation tool and started installing Windows 11. The next problem that occurred was after the OS was installed it would just go to a dark screen. This happened a few times until I removed the NVME drive and put it inside a USB enclosure and formatted it. I put the drive back onto the board and finally Windows 11 Pro installed properly. This is a great board but I'm taking one star off for the difficulty I had of setting it up. Right now with a air cooler it idles at about 36 degrees C. There are plenty of USBs and two thunderbolt ports. One other detail I wasn't too fond about was the cheaply made Wi-Fi antenna that just plugs in on the back so I can't use my threaded antenna. I should probably buy a spare just in case this one breaks somehow.

Excellent Quality and Features
I bought this board after weeks of pure frustration with a much more expensive MSI Z890 Ace that had all kinds of design problems. I say that because after FIVE new BIOS updates that have been released, the exact same problems still persist, so obviously it's not something MSI can fix with BIOS updates. This ROG Strix Z890-E from ASUS, despite being $330 less expensive, is overall a much better product. I've been using high-end MSI boards for the past six years (Z390 Godlike and Z690 Ace), but after my horrendous experience with the Z890 Ace, I won't even consider another MSI board for at least another decade.Paired it with an Intel 265K, and haven't looked back. Completely stable, tons of features, and a power-user's dream with all the overclocking and tweaking options that ASUS gives you in the BIOS.

Asus manufacturing defect on Asus ROG Strix 890-E motherboard
This item arrived defective. Consider a manufacturing defective and not a seller issue. Pins in CPU socket bent/not in alignment
