Gaiam On-The-Go Yoga Mat Carrier

This is a fantastic product! I purchased it after losing one too many mats, leaving them behind at yoga studios after which they would never be seen again. The empty sling next to my purse is the perfect smart reminder to bring my mat home after practice. Even better, the quality of the sling is superior to what I expected. 1. It's sturdy and spacious. For studio practice I use a 71" 3/8" Jade Harmony mat. The sling closes around it easily, leaving about 3 fingers of air space that I can fill with a towel. There is an interior elasticized strap that closes with velcro and holds the mat snuggly so that it doesn't slide. 2. The outside pocket is large enough for a change purse and my car keys and the zip opens and closes easily. 3. The color is an attractive shade of gray that works well with my slate blue mat. 4. Straps are long enough to comfortably wear over bulky winter coats. My only complaint is at certain angles the magnetic closures at the top of the sling come undone when I place the sling down at an angle; but the velcro strap holds the mat in place firmly and the pocket zip stays shut.

I like that it is small and compact. The outside pocket is great for small necessities and there is an internal velcro-elastic band to hold your mat in place. The only thing is that sometimes the 4 magnetic snaps at the top of the carrier comes apart (not really an issue since the straps keep the mat in place. Length of shoulder straps is perfect. I am 5'4". Easy to tote and nice neutral colors.

I was looking for something to carry my yoga mat, that had the following criteria: Held my mat rolled up in between uses Was quick to take off and put on (not a bag) Had straps that didn't require twisting around to make sure they lay flat Had a pocket for phone, keys, wallet Was nice looking This was the best thing I could find, and fits pretty much all my criteria. I tried several other products before this that did not work for me. The only draw backs with this carrier are that I find the grey fabric to be bland colored (my mat is black, so it doesn't contrast in a cute way. I'd prefer the option of more colors) and the fabric itself is rather stiff, almost waterproof material. I would have preferred something a little softer, particularly where the straps are concerned. They aren't super comfortable to carry. Not uncomfortable, but they are hard and round, and just not the sort of soft lux that I'd ideally like. The zippered pouch is a good size, it can easily fit my iPhone 6 (could fit the 6+ too) and some keys. But it's not big enough for a wallet, so that is a compromise. The thing is, it would be really easy for Gaiam to make the pocket a bit bigger. The actual width by length is a generous size, but there is no depth! It wouldn't take much extra material to add some depth to the pocket, and it would make a big difference for what you are able to carry in it. I have a standard size 5mm mat, and it fits perfectly. There are interior velcro straps which allow for different sized mats to fit, and then the grey material with the straps wraps up around the mat, and closes with a magnetic closure. The closures are not particularly strong, and can unsnap quickly. I actually like this, because I don't want to be faffing around undoing anything when there is already velcro inside to manage. The velcro allows for me roll my towel up inside my mat, and it still fits with plenty of room. Overall I like this carrier. I will keep it, and I'll use it. I haven't found anything else on the market that exceeds this product, but I also feel like it's lacking in a couple of areas that would be easy for Gaiam to fix. By the way I also have a Gaiam yoga mat, and I LOVE their company and products. High quality, all the way. This will last for a very long time.

I have bought several types of mat carriers and, finally, I've found what I'm looking for. Some people have said that the shoulder strap is thin and that's true. Not thin as in flimsy; just not wide for easy carrying. But this isn't a problem for me as I don't carry this far and most of the time I carry it in my hands and not over the shoulder. I love the design on this as it holds my thick mat with the heavy velcro wrap. The pocket is good for what little I need to carry. I don't bring my phone into the yoga class so I don't know how it would work with the phone. I always bring a towel, which I just wrap around one of the shoulder straps. And it's easy to put the mat back into the holder after class. This is the right item for me.

Great little yoga mat carrier, just what I needed. It fits my Liforme yoga mat and is super easy to get in and out. I like that there’s an inter stretchy velcro strap that secures the mat first because then I don’t have to worry about snapping the buttons closed necessarily. The pocket fits my iPhone 8+, car key FOB, chapstick, and would probably fit my slim wallet/card holder too but I don’t have a need to carry it in with me. The only improvement I’d make is if the straps were a little wider so they were more comfortable on the shoulder. One last note- some of the other reviews referenced a magnetic closure (that most people seemed to have issues with) but the one I received has buttons, no magnets, so perhaps they made a design change based off reviews. The buttons work just fine, no issues.

It’s a nice trendy looking carry, minimalistic, but not very functional. You can only carry it as a shoulder carry, not a sling. I end up smacking people around me with the mat as I commute because I have to carry it in a horizontal lie. The bag fits my manduka prolite mat just nicely with some tension on the elastic band. I do hope the elastic band lasts because once that loses its tension, the bag would be useless. I read previous reviews saying that it was a magnetic closure, but the one I got was a snap button closure. I suppose the negative reviews with the magnetic closure meant that they had to improvise, but I could really have done with the convenience of the magnetic closures. I’m sure they could have figured that part out using stronger magnets or something. Anyways, that left me rather disappointed as I looked forward to the convenience of magnetic closures and now I have to fumble with the snap buttons when my mat is kept in it. I kept the bag anyway because I had not found a more suitable carry that I liked. The side pocket is only useful IF your mat is not too thick. If I throw in a small face towel in the space between the mat and the button snaps, there’s hardly any space left to put anything in the side pocket. Without the face towel, it can fit my phone and car key and a slim card holder, but even that, it’s a bit of a squeeze. Perhaps they should consider expanding pockets or something more functional.

I love this little yoga mat carrier!! It looks adorable and is perfect for the summer. I have three yoga mat bags at home and wanted something lighter and that wasn't a bag. So, this worked perfectly for me and my needs. Yes, you can put a whole lot inside, but that's not its purpose. As you can see from the attached photos, this carrier has a zipper pocket on the outside which can fit keys, a foldable wallet/man's style, lip balm, moist wipes and some hair clips/elastics. The inside has NO pockets of any sort. There is an elastic to which you secure your mat, and you can also put there a small towel, and I have looped my mamakuka straps in there. And this is what the elastic does. Then you close the carrier by a set of magnets. Now, you can also secure there a light jacket as well. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and have been using this yoga mat carrier for about a month. :)

Because I ride my bike to the gym, I needed a holder for my rubber mat. It does exactly what I needed it to do. I just plop my mat into the straps, snap it shut, sling it over my shoulder and jump on my bike. The side zipper pocket is big enough to hold my phone (I have the large one) and my keys. The stretchy, interior straps are flexible for any size mat. I have a thin, rubber mat that I mostly use this for but I’ve also used it for my thick, foam mat.
