And it is the particular story of psycho-historian Hari Seldon, the only man who can see the horrors the future has in store: a dark age of ignorance, barbarism and violence that will last for thirty thousand years. Gathering together a band of courageous men and women, Seldon leads them to a hidden location at the edge of the galaxy where he hopes they can preserve human knowledge and wisdom against all who would destroy them. Asimov went on to add numerous sequels and prequels to the trilogy, building up what has become known as the Foundation series, but it is the original three books, first published in the Forties and Fifties, which remain the most powerful, imaginative and breathtaking. Review: Exceeds expectations - Didn't expect a hardcover with such a sturdy build and good print at this price range. Needless to say it surpassed my expectations. Review: Great paper quality and binding; Content is brilliant as expected - I bought this book for a steal. You get the three best Foundation novels in this volume, on high quality paper, in a hardbound version. The book also features an extensive chronology stating when the Foundation and other major Asimov books were written, along with the significant historical events around that time. The introduction is terrible though. I expected better stuff on a seminal work like the Foundation series. The Dark ages that Asimov talks about, for instance, were most likely inspired by Gibbon's "History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" and how the burning of the Library at Alexandria pushed science behind several centuries. I need not say much on the Foundation series. If you are a science fiction fan, you have to read the three novels in this volume. My favourite is the first one. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #129,136 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #278 in Space Operas #385 in Humorous Science Fiction (Books) #391 in Science Fiction Short Stories | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 1,307 Reviews | ## Images ![Foundation Trilogy - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/713dCi9ISwL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceeds expectations *by E***N on 19 March 2025* Didn't expect a hardcover with such a sturdy build and good print at this price range.
