Flareon Barbecue Briquettes
Excellent product, low smoke, stable heat, good longevity, but comes with a few caveats. Read ahead. If you have a chimney starter then it is easy to get these briquettes started. If you don't know or don't have a chimney starter, you can check on YouTube. Basically it is a cylindrical container with a perforated base and handle. You place the briquettes in the upper section and pack newspaper in the lower section and light up the news paper. The fire gets the briquettes burning and starts them and then you pour them into the barbecue. One issue I noticed was people mentioning that this was hard to get started and I agree. These briquettes are dense and it needs high heat to start them. My solution was to take 2 - 3 briquettes and break them up and then get them started in a ball of newspaper that was lit up. (I don't have a chimney starter, so I ball up newspaper with the broken down briquettes in the center and light it up). Once it does get started, you need to fan them to provide good air circulation till you get them really going and flaming a bit. This is the point, where you add more briquettes 2 - 3 at a time till you reach the optimal quantity. These briquettes last long, have low smoke and impart a nice smokey flavor to your barbecue and with a 5kilo bag, if you are using a medium sized grill like I am and use it once in a few weeks, expect them to last a few months. In comparison with regular charcoal that you might find at a coal depot, this is highly preferable for a few reasons. 1) Low smoke and odor, which means you can use this in your balcony if you live in an apartment, without inviting the ire of your neighbors. 2) Regular charcoal produces more soot and your food can be coated in the soot which will destroy the taste and frankly is unhygienic to heat. At the end of the day you want a delicious grilled item that is hygienically prepared and shouldn't compromise in this area. Highly recommend using this for your barbecue grill.

Quality is very good and lasts long
The coal is very good and lasts very long probably 2.5hrs. Yes it takes 20min to initial ignition. but then it goes on and on. Very less/no smoke. Good value for money.

BBQ essential good product.
The briquettes were good, I recommend having good kindling and some fire starter / lighters to get your BBQ going. Not too smoky and burned well to cook the food without killing the flavour of the food.

Don't buy this if you ar a first timer
It took a long time to get the coal kindled, I almost lost my patience in a first time barbecue attempt. But once the coals reach red, they keep going on and on for a long time. The heat is also consistent with uniform overall cooking. Good for barbecuing larger quantities, not for small family cooking. If you are attempting barbecuing for the first time, go for regular coal. If you are good enough, these briquettes may be worth a try.

Horrendous product. Low quality, cannot hold heat and a pain to get started.
Over the last 2 years my daily Sunday ritual is to bbq and have gone through tons of bags. I have always used Weber briquettes but looking at the price of these “so-called” briquettes, I thought, “why not?”. I’ve never been more compelled to write a review, let me explain - 1. The chimney method - usually here it takes around 20-25 mins to light up my briquettes, however with these flareons, it took over 40 minutes and it still wasn’t burned through, just to be sure I used four starter cubes. At this point, I thought maybe it was the starter cubes, although it was the same brand , I thought maybe it has to do with chemical composition or whatever, further, after transferring them to my grill, it did not hold temperature for more than 45 minutes. Luckily I had half a bag of my usual brand left and after using the same cubes, I managed to salvage the rest of my cook. After the bbq, there was about 15% of the flareon briquettes that DID NOT EVEN BURN! Keep in mind I added fresh, hot briquettes as well. I still wanted to give this brand another shot and decided to try a different lighting method for my cool the next week. 2. The snake method - The next week, I laid down the briquettes in a snake form to prepare the grill for a 3 hour cook. I’ve done this exact same cook over 50 times and know every step of the process like the back of my hand. I laid down 3 starter cubes (2 more than I usually use) just to be doubly sure. This time, IT WAS WORSE! The briquettes took over 45 minutes to get to a reasonable reasonable heat and even then, wasn’t able to hold the heat consistently. Dropping from 250 F quite easily, eventually the cook was compromised and I had to use a few more cubes from the opposite side of the snake to get in some heat and just try and salvage it. In the end I went through a whole packet of starter cubes and the same exact cook took over 8 excruciating hours. I still have a whole box of these left and I will be happy to give them away to anyone who wants to put themselves through bbq purgatory. THE ONLY positive here was the packaging. I like the box with the convenient handle with the paper bag inside, it’s a lot less messy to deal with and a lot easier to store. But again, this is certainly not a good product and as much as I wanted to like it, it’s terribly disappointing. Save yoirself the trouble, shell out that extra 150 bucks and buy something else.

Long lasting and value for money
Pros: 1-long lasting(atleast 45 min on continous cooking) 2-Good quantity on reasonable price as compared to Weber charcoal. cons: Takes a while to start(as case with every charcoal briquete) but once on fire you dont need to look at it.Put few briquets on gas burner for easy lighting.
