Still The Orchestra Plays Greatest Hits Vol.1+2

What a great group Savatage were, great pitch perfect vocals, great guitar playing, great songs & arrangements. With a lot of groups reforming its a shame Savatage can't or won't get back together again. So we will have to make do with this collection or buy their back catalogue. This is also the only way to get on DVD their live in Japan 1994 concert as well. All in all not a bad package just a shame they don't record any new stuff.

Missed this band from the eighties. But now I have heard them as my brother played me an album of theirs & I am hooked. Excellent CD to start with I shall be collecting the rest of their back catalogue over time. Rock on.

What can you say about Savatage that has not been written before ? Personally I love this collection , my only niggle is that the song Sirens is not on here . But don't let that put you off , there is also the much searched Live In Japan DVD with this as a third disc , grab yourself a bargain .

This collection is a little better than the 1996 release of "hits" and "best of" (FROM THE GUTTER TO THE STAGE), not only cos it has two FULL CDs with more songs, including some new bonus tracks, but it also comes with a DVD. The new bonus tracks (or maybe it's just "track"), are acoustic renditions of Savatage songs, by Jon Oliva, and thereby sort of makes this album the unofficial "15th album" in the newest re-issue of the Savatage discography (where the other new acoustic rendition by Jon Oliva can be found). I'm rather disappointed that they used the lame Savatage font (characterized by the tell-tale mis-shapen capital S) instead of an official logo, because the rest of the cover art is incredible. Using the cheap font just cheapens the cover and makes it look less official. But that's just me and my pickiness for the aesthetic. I personally think the only thing that would have made this even better is if it was a 3-CD set of music with a 4th disc being the DVD with ALL their videos. There's simply too much awesome music from the 20-year span (1982-2002) to just limit it to a mere 2 discs. Still, a great "starter album" for anyone unfamiliar with the band and/or their music.

i have been a savatage fan since 92 and i have to say this that it was really a lost when criss died and a lost when savatage called it a day. this is the best set that will get every old and new savatage fan the gift of rock buy it you will never regret it \m/ and rock on

There is a few of superb songs missing on this compilation but overall you get 2 cd's full of top class music + DVD concert. If you're a hard rock/heavy metal fan fed up of most known bands (Iron Maiden, Metallica etc.) this cd of very underrated and a bit forgotten band is for you!

NO PROBLEMS GOOD SERVICE

Finally is all I can say that we get a newer updated version of one of the most forgotten metal bands from the 80's and early 90's greatest hits. I have in my collection a very best of two disc set that came out of the Edel label some years ago but I rarely play it anymore since I don't want to damage it any further and it was really used when I got my hands on it anyway. To any event this collection is a must I have listened to it completely all the way through and I love it. To the people that say it is not essential, needed or complete well that may be true if you want to own every single album. Granted their could have been more tracks added to the collection but I love it and I am not pickey when a Savatage greatest hits collection is released b/c I am a fan that doesn't have the money, time or put in the effort of tracking down and buying every album. I love the concert DVD as well and I cannot wait and see if we can possibly get a greatest hits #3 or a b-sides disc etc... from Mr Oliva and O'Neil in later releases. Buy this collection now it is essential and great Savatage restored music.

savatage est l un des meilleur groupe de power-métal dans le monde avec iced earth et les pionniers accept .ils ont des titres très simples mais très efficaces avec des riffs et refrains entètants. .( power of the night, légions) ou des titres plus alambiqués ( chance, hourglass ) avec ces chants croisés. leur musique n a jamais cessée d évoluer et leur qualité technique est impressionnante .mention particulière a feu criss m. oliva dont le jeu de guitare est l un dès plus beau que j ai écouté parmi mes trente années de métal.il n y a qu à écouter les riffs et solos de :edge of thorns , 24 hours ago , ghost in the ruins ou encore summer rain.r i p .

後期Savatageのヨーロッパでの所属レーベルだったedel系列によるベスト+ライヴDVDのカップリング盤． CD2枚に収録のベスト20曲と，おまけのジョン・オリヴァによるアコースティック3曲は音質良好です． 旧規格盤と比較しても大幅改善の出来映えで，キャリア総括に最適です． DVDは今は亡きゼロ・コーポレーションからVHSで発売されていた'94年11月のクラブチッタ公演を収録 した作品の初DVD化です． 残念ながら，PALなので，相応の環境を整えていただく必要があります． しかも，市販のVHSをマスターにしたようで，映像は劣化しており，輪郭がぼやけているし，VHSらしい ノイズも散見されます．音声もあまり良くありません．録音レンジも狭く，音声も篭っています． 本公演は彼らにとっての2回目の来日で，残念ながら交通事故で他界したクリス・オリヴァの代役にア レックス・スコルニックを迎えたツアーで，DVDでもアレックス・スコルニックの姿が比較的多く収録 されています． 本ツアー大阪公演を見た私の記憶では，"Chance"終盤での輪唱パートが割愛されていて，ガッカリした のですが，これが完全再現されるのは最後の来日となる『Dead Winter Dead』でのツアー．．． 映像作品としては非常に残念な出来映えなのですが，正規に入手できるのはこれしかないので当時を知 る方は思い出補正して見ましょう！

Si alguien anda buscando un buen recopilatorio de esta mítica banda, no tiene que mirar más lejos. Dos Cds con los 23 mejores temas de la banda (la selección me parece excelente, y cubre todas sus etapas). También incluye un DVD con el concierto en directo de 1994 en Japón, uno de los mejores directos de la banda. Es un buen extra, que desgraciadamente no es más que el máster que se usó para el VHS, metido en un dvd. Cuesta protestar cuando el precio del producto es tan bajo, pero se merecía una remasterización.
