Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 6x USB3.0, 8x USB2.0, HDMI, DVI-I, DSUB)

My review echoes what 'Darren Porter' stated below; after researching the many many choices, I bought this one and it's great! It's easy to install and has great performance for gamers and overclockers (e.g., GTA 5, X-Plane 10, etc.). Packaging was excellent too, shipping in the usual anti-static bag and two SATA cables. If you are a first-time PC builder, then remember that you need to buy other cables going to/from the motherboard (e.g., ATX 12V and 24V cables to power supply, and front panel cables connecting motherboard to the power button, audio ports and HD activity light etc.) Everything is where you'd expect it to be on an ATX motherboard, and it fits very well into my Xigmatek Utgard case. Very strong motherboard when you hold it, with red lights around some edges and a BIOS which is quite easy to use. Minor odd behavior with my W8.1 64-bit rig: CD/DVD drive not always detected despite latest CD/DVD firmware and latest motherboard BIOS, and some times one or two reboots are needed to detect my Operating System (it always finds it). Entering BIOS and quiting with or without changes can some times lead to a blue-colored screen stating OS cannot be found/fatal error on my PC, but a restart always fixes this. I think that these glitches are probably unique to my PC and not due to the motherboard itself; more likely they're due to a slight conflict between several bits of hardware and/or minor difficulty upgrading W7 to W8, which can happen in computing let's be honest. I cannot fault the motherboard. It also comes with extra software such as a hardware monitor (great for voltage- and temperature-monitoring, including fan speeds of other hardware), and installing drivers such as LAN/ethernet and audio was easy (I downloaded these from the web site to ensure they are latest versions). Overall, if in doubt and/or on a budget but looking for excellent value-for-money, I recommend this highly!

I bought this motherboard as part of a self build project with my son for Christmas. The standard and quality of the product is and is very solid. I'm no expert and relied on the manufacturer's selling pitch and specs. I was amazed at all the other reviews and gained a lot of information on the parts that i was going to use, so thank you for all the help fellow Amazoners. I like the look of this motherboard its durable, has a lot of extras and with my build spec is very upgradable. The build was pretty simple, The instructions are thorough with a little help from you tube etc. My build was as follows:- Gigabyte Gaming 5 Motherboard Intel I-5 4690K Processor 4 x 8Gb Hyper X Fury Red Ram boards 240 Gb Hyper X Savage SSD Gigabyte NVidia GTX 750 ti 2Gb Graphics card. I also threw in some silent fans which are blue on start-up. I fully intend to increase the performance of this build in the future, probably with the addition of more drives, an improved Graphics card etc.

Great motherboard, very happy. I research this board a lot debating this board or the MSI gaming-5 which was around £20 more. Toms Hardware motherboard tier puts this with other boards at around £150, scores highly on its features, durability & overclocking. The board has good layout with pwm fan headers spaced around the board, 2 near the cpu for top mounted radiators. Sound blaster is excellent feature, as is the killer E2200. The app centre I didn't think Id use (HWmonitor CPUZ etc) but its surprisingly good & has a good android network app. This is the first time I've bought Gigabyte product always preferring msi/asus, but I was so impressed that when it then came to buying a new GPU I looked for gigabyte first. Not disappointed in that area also.

Worked Great, for about 2 weeks then it did not work at all, would not recommend. Spend a bit extra and for the msi gaming 5. Update I have since sent it back to gigabyte and it is now working great, had if for 3 months and could not be happier with the product and also gigabytes customers service. Only complaint is they mad me pay to ship it to them and back to me, this cost around £30 and I feel as it was in warrenty they should have paid for it. Other than that it is a great product and would recommend

got the job done for a month, then the ethernet port stopped working so i have to use wifi which sucks for gaming. Tried going on their website for help but the customer service is awful. save up and get an ASUS one. They're much better quality and customer service is better

It failed after few months and I had to spend quite some time to find the problem, and then, unmount the whole PC to put a new motherboard in. I bought a Black Edition one next as they get exhaustively tested before they ship.

This is worth buying. I highly recommend this motherboard even if your new to building gaming computers. I enjoy the M.2 SSD slot as I use it and my computer can boot up in 5 seconds. Great overclocking abilities. Easy BIOS to use, and all the slots on the motherboard is label so you know where everything plugs into.

This is the second Gigabyte motherboard,I've bought from Amazon.This one does'nt work either.Gigabyte either have to employ a quality controller or Amazon should make sure goods work before they are sold.

Appena aperta ho visto che era nettamente superiore alla sua concorrente MSI ( che ho dovuto sostituire dato che non funzionavano due slot per la RAM). Le rifiniture sono migliori, gli alloggi ben distribuiti ed è più piccola in dimensioni della MSI. Facendo vari benchmark non ho notato nè perdite nè migliorie nette rispetto alla gaming 5 di MSI a sistema operativo eseguito. Il boot è veloce anche se con MSI ho visto che forse un secondo in meno riusciva a caricare il sistema operativo (anche se aveva 8 giga di ram in meno in quanto due slot per la ram non funzionavano). Un'altra pecca: ho aperto il BIOS all'avvio ed è risultata la lingua in cinese, però credo di aver premuto io qualche pulsante èer sbaglio e non me ne sono accorto... andare a caso per capire dove si configurasse la lingua è stato arduo ( per chi capitasse come è il primo pulsante in alto a sinistra). Altamente personalizzabile in tutto come la sua concorrente ha in meno il fatto che si possa alimentare esternamente la sceda audio per un minor disturbo ricevuto dalla CPU, ma che comunque non è presente anche alzando il volume al massimo (si sente di più la 50 Hz di alimentazione). Le prese audio sono dorate, e la qualità audio è nettamente superiore a schede madri di fascia base. Devo dire ottimo prodotto, immediatamante plug and play. Appena arrivata ero sconfortato perchè la precendente MSI mi aveva davvero deluso, invece su questa ho montato da subito tutti i componenti ed è stato un piacere vedere che non ci sono stati problemi (3 hard disk, 4 slot di ram 4 GB 1600 Mhz samsung, cpu i7 4770, PNY gtx 970, alimentatore ATX 1050W, masterizzatore dvd base). Amazon velocissimo e puntuale.

Ein sehr wertig aussehendes Motherbord das recht gut ausgestattet ist mit vielen anschlussmöglichkeiten sehr gut sind die sechs Verschraubungen an das Rechnergehäuse zum fixiren.

He de decir, que ha sido una de las mejores compras que he realizado en mucho tiempo y suelo actualizar con frecuencia todos mis pcs. Anteriormente tenia una ASUS CROSSHAIR en plataforma AMD que sin saber como ni porque de un dia para otro murió tanto placa como micro y me he pasado a INTEL con esta Gigabyte por la sencilla razón de que todas las placas Gigabyte que he tenido me han dado unos resultados extraordinarios y 0 fallos, y como no podia ser excepcion, esta me va a las mil maravillas. Tiene una opcion de arranque y cierre de windows supefast, con la propia aplicacion de la placa, y la verdad que es una gozada, me arranca el pc en 1,5 segundos. Totalmente recomendada para quien tenga alguna duda. En cuanto a la estetica, es preciosa encendida, tiene un hilo de luz en la parte izquierda que delimita la zona de la tarjeta de sonido, muy bonita. Un saludo.

Dopo circa un mese di utilizzo posso recensire appieno questo prodotto. Posso dirvi che ne sono pienamente soddisfatto! Solo all'inizio ho dovuto affrontare dei problemi fastidiosi(facilmente risolvibili e riconosciuti) riguardanti il chip Killer Lan,che per un bug di incompatibilità con i driver di Windows 8.1 andava a saturare la RAM,rendendo inutilizzabile il PC(ovviamente accadeva solo sporadicamente).Una volta risolto il problema,(basta modificare un valore nel registro di sistema),tutto è andato liscio! La scheda ha riconosciuto subito tutti i componenti che ho scelto per il mio setup,e l'interfacciamento è avvenuto in modo molto rapido. E' un articolo che consiglio di acquistare senza nessun dubbio,in quanto,sopratutto nell'ambito gaming,abbinato a componenti di alta qualità,riesce a dare soddisfazioni non indefferenti! Il bios è molto bello visivamente e di facile utilizzo,nonchè tradotto in italiano!

Yo tuve que devolver esta placa, pero no por culpa del propio producto sino por la mía. No leí bien las especificaciones y el socket del procesador es H3 cuando yo necesitaba un H2. Por lo tanto, ni la probé, ni la monté, pero tengo que decir, que con nada más sacarla de su caja, se nota que es de calidad (como casi todo lo que hace Gigabyte), robusta y muy, muy bonita. En cuanto al envío, rapidisimo como siempre, y con la devolución ninguna pega, alucinante amazon! Edito: Mucho tiempo después de esta review vuelvo a escribir. Quedé tan convencido sin haberla probado siquiera, que cuando cambie a procesador h3 la pedí de nuevo. Una pasada, con un ssd y la opción que trae de arranque rápido es una pasada. Calidad inmejorable en componentes.
