PERFECT!!!
This is absolutely a MUST HAVE for those of you who are as "plant water challenged", as I am! I just transitioned a treasured 4' Gardenia topiary from my outdoor deck into the house and almost drowned it!!! I bought this pretty little Plant Nanny and all of my watering issues are now a thing of the past. I was pretty skeptical at first, but it works like a miracle to keep my plant with just the right amount of water. I needed a large one (24 oz.) for my plant and it lasts for, give or take, 3 days. I mix the water with any nutrients the plant needs and it works like a charm and looks GREAT! VERY HAPPY with this purchase, so much that I plan on buying a few for Christmas gifts! LOVE IT!!!

It works, but not as I expected it to ...
It works, but not as I expected it to. I thought that when the soil was permeated to a certain level it would stop releasing water and continue releasing it slowly for several days afterward keeping the soil evenly moist. Not so. I inserted the terra cotta portion, filled the glass globe and put it on top. Within about 6 hours it had drained completely. I hadn't watered this pot in some time so I thought maybe it just needed a little more water. Overnight it drained the 2nd globe and left a puddle under the pot. It seems really, really wet. Maybe this wasn't supposed to be for indoor use? Maybe it has to be used with a specific type of potting mix?

Works well but is messy to refill
This is an attractive watering globe and it dispenses the water effectively, through a wide terra-cotta stake. My only problem with it is the awkwardness of refilling the water. When I decided to order it, I had thought the finial at the top was removable and that water could be poured directly into the globe without having to lift it from its stake. Nope. Instead, you must remove the glass orb and turn it over to refill it. Then, covering the opening with your fingers (the opening is wider than the width of any of my fingers), you invert the globe and quickly replace it into the stake. It's a bit of a trick and there is often some spilled water as a result -- it's not a deal breaker, but heads-up. Update: I'm delighted to report that my plant nanny really did the trick when I was away from home for more than a week. I have a large hibiscus tree standard that I was worried wouldn't do well while I was away. I watered it well before leaving, but also used the plant nanny; then I crossed my fingers. I returned to find the plant in excellent shape. These watering stakes are not cheap, but they do work, and to save a treasured plant, they are well worth the price.

Absolutely love the watering globe, would never go back to life before it!
I researched quite a bit before settling on this watering globe. I was torn between this and the plant nanny. Even though this one is on the expensive side, it was so worth it because of its bigger size and once you receive it you will see how high quality it truly is. I ended up buying 3 of these to use for my tomato plants, peppers, and eggplant. They were so easy to put in the soil, I followed a review that suggested wetting the stake before placing it in the ground, so I did that and then I kept rotating it into the soil till it was completely submerged. Each plant varies with how much water it needs so I notice that my tomato plants take 1 day to use up the water in a globe, but the pepper and eggplant still have some remaining water when I check the following night. I have a 15 gallon plant container and in that one I need to use 2 globes for adequate water supply, but my 7 gallon container just needs one. I have been using the globes for 6 weeks now and my plants are doing great. Before buying the globe, the eggplant had been suffering from the heat and watering it once a day wasn't working and the plant would often wilt, but since placing the globe the plant has never once wilted.

Great if you over- or under-water your plants!
I have these in both the green and blue finials in some outdoor baskets on my deck. The baskets are filled with dianthus, a sturdy flower, but in the summer when it gets into the 80s and 90s (and sometimes above 100*) I needed to start watering them, and I ended up overwatering. They would start looking soggy despite the heat, and these are good draining baskets too. The plants don't look soggy throughout our Pacific Northwest winter and spring with all our rain, so I was totally baffled why my plants looked soggy in the summer when I watered them. So I would scale back on the waterings, and the dianthus started getting dry and crispy. I could never get it just right. These Plant Nannies take the guesswork out of watering, the plants just take what they need. My dianthus are lush and green. In this summer heat, I have to refill about every 10 days with this 24 ounce size watering globe, I think. Perfect for when we go on vacation too, so I'm pleased. By the way, my baskets are round, 19 inches in diameter, and each basket just needs one of these Plant Nannies smack in the middle of the basket. In one basket I put 2 Nannies to be sure, but the other baskets with just one Nanny are doing just as well. Hope this helps! *Update* It's been a couple years, and I've found that cleaning them isn't easy or convenient or pleasant (I was using these outdoors, so little snails took up residence in the ceramic spike of the plant nanny, and mold grows on the inside of both the ceramic spike and glass globe... I get icked out by cleaning them). And if you don't clean them, they get really, really gross, as you can imagine. I've stopped using the plant nannies because of the cleaning issue.... instead of cleaning these plant nannies out again, I'd rather water my plants with a regular watering can and take the chance that I might over- or under-water them. If you want to use the plant nannies for indoor plants, you might have better luck with them (perhaps they wouldn't get so dirty/moldy/snail-infested).

Works Perfectly
I bought these for my two, new fiddle leaf ficus trees in my living room. The watering globes were placed in the soil after the trees were transplanted into larger pots and after watering the trees thoroughly. The water in the globes drained slowly for about a week, and I am using them to keep the soil moist, but not soaked. The trees seem to like the process, and it will be great to ensure that the trees are well watered when we go on vacation. On top of that, they look very nice and are very easy to fill with water.
