Air Plants: The Curious World of Tillandsias

Very informative book, the best I've seen dealing with tillandsias. Aside from the clear and thorough cultivation information, the author provides an abundance of high-quality photos and suggestions of how to display these plants with no roots and pots. Clearly, the author has fun displaying her collection creatively, and changing the displays on a whim (which means she gets to play with and really enjoy her plants - the ultimate in plantsmanship!) - and she shares a bookful of uncomplicated, reproducible ideas with the reader. No matter where you fall on the plant-owning spectrum, you'll probably find something to enjoy in this book. If you don't own tillandsias when you open the book, you'll be eager to acquire some by the time you close it!

Beautifully photographed. Clear and thorough instructions on how to care for air plants. I'm new to this fad but have to admit I'm enjoying caring for these little things. I have the opposite of a green thumb so the fact that I've been able to keep them alive for over a month is a good sign. I've gotten several ideas from this book, and learned that I can use pretty much anything to display them. I always thought I need to buy a terrarium bowl but that's not the case. It's inspired me to use small Japanese bowls I like to collect, as well as jam jars that I used to throw away. Lots of helpful tips in this book.

This is a great book! I'm a beginner but it certainly answered all my questions. Yes, there were a lot of decorating ideas but it also answered all my questions about care and identified all the ones I've ever seen. Pictures are great and there are lots of details about watering, light, growth, fertilization etc. Maybe an expert would need more information but it certainly is a great book for beginners like me.

This is a very pretty coffee table book. It has some good information in it, but the majority of the book is more of a design book for displaying tillandsias. I was hoping for some more info about care and the different varieties of airplant. I ended up finding one called Living With Air Plants that was more of the A to Z that I was looking for. So, together, these two books make a good pair for me.

This is a fantastic book for the beginner in the world of Tillandsias. It is very easy to read and is packed with good information on everything from the care and feeding of your Tilly to great ideas, with instructions, for displaying them. The pictures are dynamite and very helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get a good start with these great little plants.

First the photography is beautiful, but kept clean and simple. The book is extremely informative on the subject of airplants....covering their variety, care and how to display them in your home or office. My favorite section was the decor information. She is very creative and generous with her ideas on how to showcase these funny little plants. Whether you are new to airplants or not, this book is a must have. It gathers everything you ever wanted to know about them!

I’m ready to explore some more! Book is in three parts. 1. The overview and care. 2. A look at common and easy to find tillandsias. 3. And a third section on crafty ideas.I think the ideas on how to display tillandsias was unexpected (to me) in their “craftiness.” But after the overview and a taste of what’s out there... the chase is on! I’ve started to look for a specific variety and have found this could be a pleasant little “hobby.”

I am new to the world of tillandsias and personally enjoyed the book. I am not one who like to read and I get bored really easy. This book has wonderful pictures throughout and informative. I now know what a tilli looks like, from the picture, when it's dry and needs water. I knew the leaves would curl but some just have a curl to them. Also knowing which environments the species originate from is helpful with watering. I thought they all liked a good soaking at least one a week but apparently not. I've learned a few important things from this book and recommend it.

Beautifully presented book and well written, with stunning photos and great information. After researching and reading reviews, I bought several air plant books at the same time, and this one was by far the best of the lot. Recommend to anyone interested in air plants, to purchase this book which is "coffee table display" worthy. Well done!! :-)
