Excellent Electric Razor in All Regards
The Series 5 5018s replaces a woefully inadequate and over priced Panasonic Arc4. After having owned 7 electric razors, if come to the conclusion that Braun is hands down the best brand. The Panasonic Arc4 cost more than double the 5018s, but the charge didn't last over a week, the included cleaning/charging station was totally unnecessary and the display ended up failing prematurely as it has done on all the Panasonics I have owned. After a while, I ended up going back to my cheap Braun 3 series that I gave to my sons and let them use the Arc4. I purchased the 5018s as a lark as my 340 was very good. Blown away by the difference. The 5018s is light, ergonomic, has excellent battery life and adheres to the KISS standard - no idiot light displays to break, just 3 simple charge light dots. It also gives the best shave I've ever had - about as good as a standard multi-blade razor but with ZERO irritation. It doesn't do well with long hair, but no worse than any other electric I have used. With standard 2 or 3 day stuble, it gets everything about as close as you can get. It's also the first electric that I've owned that handles all tough angles on the neck without issue (very impressed). If I was going to point out a negative, it doesn't have a built in beard trimmer. It's a separate attachment that clips to the head. Very minor inconvenience for me since I use it infrequently.

Great shaver, but with a few small downsides
Iโve been using this shaver for a while, and overall, it works really well. The shave is smooth and comfortable, and it doesnโt irritate the skin like some other electric razors Iโve tried. Itโs easy to clean and feels solid in the hand. The battery life is good, and I like that it can be used both wet and dry. However, I noticed it sometimes misses a few hairs, especially around the neck area, so I usually have to go over the same spot twice or even more. Also, the replacement heads are a bit pricey. Still, itโs a reliable shaver that gives a close and comfortable shave โ definitely worth it for everyday use.

Just as good as my Series 9
I bought this for travel. I own a Series 9 and as nice as it is, I find it just as easy to clean with the brush, not the so called "Smart Center Cleaner" that takes up valuable space. I have to say, this series 5 provides the same close shave withouth the bells and whistles of the Series 9. No need to buy the Series 9 cartridges, just get their shaver cleaner and works just as well.

Excellent Shave, Disappointing Battery Life
I was initially very satisfied with the Braun Series 5 5018s. It provided a close, comfortable shave, and I appreciated its ergonomic design, ease of use, and wet & dry shaving capability. The shaver felt solid in the hand, and setup and cleaning were straightforward, making it a convenient daily grooming tool. Unfortunately, after about a year of regular use, the battery began to deteriorate. It no longer held a charge well, requiring frequent recharging, and eventually stopped working altogether. This was frustrating, especially considering Braunโs premium branding and price. Overall, while the Braun Series 5 5018s performs well initially and offers a comfortable shave, its longevity and battery durability fall short. The limited lifespan impacted my experience, and I expected better durability from a premium electric shaver. If you prioritise long-term reliability, you might want to consider alternatives or be prepared for potential battery issues after about a year. This is my third Braun shaver, and I'm now seriously considering switching to another brand in search of better long-term reliability.

Impressed. Why pay more?
Context: I havenโt used a Norelco in 20 years, and Iโve never used a foil shaver before. But Iโve had to stop using blades as much as possible because of acne within 24 hours of shaving. No matter the razor/foam/gel/soap/water/nothing/prep. Intentional-looking โDon Johnsonโ is surprisingly time-consuming to achieve & maintain. So I finally decided to try an electric shaver again. Using the shaver: Iโve only used this once so far โ normally Iโd wait longer to write a review, but why? Closeness is pretty amazing โ about 12 hours closer than the last time I used a Norelco. Completely comfortable 1st time. As for handling, I donโt know why anyone would need the Series 6 pivot or the series 7 swivel to steer this head over their face. Handle is a nice shape and size. Sound is a little plasticy, but not loud or annoying. Being able to rinse the head under the faucet (and wash with soap as needed!) is a revelation โ Iโm glad I didnโt pay extra for the bulky cleaning station. If youโre having trouble because โit wonโt cutโ: My old Norelco would mow a short beard. This shaver wonโt. If your beard has gotten to ~1/8โ long then this shaver WILL NOT cut it. At All. You will need to use the trimmer head or clippers to mow your beard to no longer than 1/16โ (possibly shorter) before this tool will work on it. Any hairs you missed with the clippers/trimmer you will have to go back and cut with one of those tools before this shaver will finish the job. I think thatโs the compromise you accept for the close shave this will give. The manual: I get the complaints, but there are, in fact, words that tell you what each set of pictures is explaining. The typeface for these descriptions is oddly tiny for the amount of space they take up in the layout, so theyโre easy to overlook. The pictures themselves are detailed, but in a way that requires close attention. I think this was โwrittenโ for people who grew up with graphic novels โ the styles are very similar. For those of us with grey hair itโs not what weโre used to, but the information is thereโฆ Where itโs made: as of this review, the shaver & trimmer are made in Germany, while the charger, cleaning brush & snap-on head cover are made in China. Buying advice: The โnewโ series 7 has a swivel between the head and body, the โnewโ Series 6 has a pivot, the โnewโ Series 5 has a rigid connection. There are styling differences. Otherwise the specs and features of the shavers are identical. As other reviewers confirm, the โnewโ Series 7 head (73s) and the โnewโ Series 5/6 head (53b) are interchangeable. Visually they are identical except that the 53b bezel is black and the 73s bezel is silver. When I replace the head Iโll try a 73s to see if thereโs any cutting difference. Iโll bet there isnโt.

Works fine for me.
First time using an electric shaver. Very easy to use, does a acceptable job not quite as close as I would like it, but it saves me a lot of time and shaving cream

Really depends on your expectations and past shaving experiences. I like it.
Edited again on 12/27/23: I still feel exactly the same as I stated below. I am still using this exact product and am happy with it considering its price point. I have traveled with it and it takes a beating. The battery is still in decent condition and lasts for a few weeks before needing to be charged. I figure the blades will start to get dull again soon and the battery will start to decrease. Hasnโt yet, but Iโm sure it will soon. I noticed the foil replacement is only about five bucks more than simply buying a new one. Iโll likely buy a new one in 3-6 months. I still get about two years of daily use out of these me spend way less on one of these every two years than I do buying razors and shaving cream weekly. Over one year later: Still working well. No complaints. The battery is maybe at 80% capacity now, but no real issues. Edit 4/9/22: Expect this thing to last maybe 1.5 to 2 years. The battery will no longer hold a decent charge and the foil will need to be replaced. I ended up getting a new one and donโt regret it. Itโs still cheaper and more convenient than using razors. Comparing the new unit to the 1.5 year old model is night and day. The new unit cuts faster, more easily, better, and holds an amazing charge just like the old one used to. So let me start by pointing out the obvious after having used many electric razors over the years at various price points. This is not an expensive or top of the line electric razor. This razor simply canโt be compared to the Braun Series 9 and especially should never be compared to a sharp, new, razor blade made for shaving with shaving cream. Even if you spend $1000, an electric razor will never compete with a halfway decent razor and good old fashioned shaving cream. Secondly, it should be pointed out that different electric razors will interact with different types of skin, facial structures, and facial hair differently. One person will have a much different experience from the next and will have various opinions based on their expectations. These are facts regardless of the technology and price point. I mention this because some of the reviews have somewhat unrealistic expectations. In my personal experience, I wanted an affordable electric razor for occasional use that didnโt give me shave bumps or razor burn as I have skin issues like eczema. I realized that the shave wouldnโt be perfect from prior experience with these things, but that it would be convenient when in a rush in the morning. That is exactly what I got and I am happy with it. All that said, I do agree with some of the negatives mentioned. No travel bag, no plastic protective cover, and no stand at this price point. It is also true that it struggles getting those neck hairs. Basically, after shaving with it, I look like I shaved from a foot away, but I donโt feel like I got a good shave. Itโs also true that this model lacks a connected trimmer like the previous generation. If you want to manscape, you will need to manually remove the foil head and put on the trimmer head. Kind of a pain, but I expected that and have a better Whal trimmer I much prefer anyway, so again, expectations managed. Iโve only had it a few weeks so I canโt speak to longevity. Fingers crossed. And yes, this is not the easiest to clean despite the new easy clean design. Still, itโs not a deal breaker for me. Just a few electric shaver specific tips I find helpful. One, foil shavers should not be used in a circle, but rather only up and down. Two, shave the sensitive parts of your face or neck first. The foil head heats up after (normal and typical) a while so the foil head will be cooler if you shave the sensitive areas first. This helps with bumps and rash. For me, that would be my neck and chin. Three, donโt rub the foil viciously against your skin. Most electric razors will give you razor burn if you push hard enough. Pushing harder doesnโt really result in a better shave in my opinion. Four, using a pre-shave lotion may help. I only use this razor dry as it is more convenient and faster, otherwise why own an electric razor. Finally, splash with some cold water after you finish. The cold water will help calm your skin down and may result in fewer bumps or razor rashes for those with sensitive skin. Hope this helps. I would rate this one 4.5 stars so far. Weโll see if it lasts. The reality of electric razors, especially at this price point, is that they will do an okay job that may be good enough for you. It wonโt be perfect and it will never compete with a real razor. I think if most knew that going in, this would have slightly better ratings.

EXCELENTE CALIDAD

Excellent Shave and Value
I was somewhat leery before switching from a "rotary" razor to the Braun Series 5 "foil" razor, but found that I needn't have worried; it gives an excellent shave. The shaving technique is different from a rotary, more like using a blade razor, so it's no surprise that the result is a closer shave. I love how this Braun razor is so easy to clean. There's no removing the shaver's head unit, you simply hold the razor under running tap water, give it a shake, and it's clean. My only issue is with the trimmer, as it's a separate unit from the foil razor unit, so it requires switching the units whenever it's needed, but it's easy to snap in and not a big deal, and it trims flawlessly. An included travel case would also have been nice. Overall, this is an excellent razor, and I have no hesitation in giving it 5 Stars.

Not worth for the money
I ordered this product just because of Braun & also saw many positive reviews but after using it for few months, Compared to the traditional razor - 1. It takes a lot of time to shave with electric razor 2. You cannot shave beard which is more unshaved for more than 2 weeks with electric razor. 3. Cleaning is easier but within 3 months of usage blade got damaged, not so great quality. 4. Some areas under the chin was hard to shave with electric and I had to repeat shaving multiple times in the same spot, I have moved back to regular razor and probably use this once in a while.
