Great product
I have lake Tanganyika Chiclids and I’ve been using this for awhile, I’ve noticed fuller colors and over all health of the fish flourish, I swear it even made my water clearer, I love this product and use it after every water change

Cichlids are happy and no cloudiness or gill irriration
Great product, I have a Frontosa, Mbunas, and Peacock Cichlids as well as a spotted catfish and all my tank mates are healthy and happy. I have been using this on every water change for over a year with no issues and no cloudiness. I always pour the salt into the sock filter so that it dissolves slowly and does not irritate the fish. I recommend using this product if you are serious about the well being of your cichlids. This is especially helpful if your tap water in your local area does not have a high PH as cichlids prefer a high PH.

Cichlid Essential!
Definitely a must have for raising GH in Cichlid tanks. Doesn't deplete in my tank as fast as some other buffers I've used. I use for my Tanganyikan Cichlids. I add a full dose when setting up new tanks and adjust as needed. For reference, my tap is 3-5dGH. A full dose for my 10 gallon raises this to 12-13dGH. I do 50% water changes every week. After 2 weeks it's down to 9dGH so I mix a 1/4th dose bi-weekly with the new water and it goes back up to 14-15dGH.

Cichlid salt
This is a good product but be careful when using it...I won't put more then a teaspoon in my 55 gallon aquarium with a 80 percent water change...that's Less then what the directions say...I first went by the directions and over salted my aquarium...my fish went happy and I noticed quickly...I had to empty it out by 50 percent and refill it for the health of my fish...I use it every water change but less then what's recommended...be careful but yes it's a good product...very conctrated

Seems to be working well
We have had a 38 gallon cichlid tank for awhile now. We keep losing fish. A friend gave us a 46 gallon tank and we decided to move the cichlids to the bigger tank. We decided that this time, we were going to do it right. We used cichlid sand and this cichlid salt. When we went to test the water before putting the fish in, everything was right on. The first 6 fish have been in the new tank for 5 days now and are doing well. No casualties from the move, and their colors are so much brighter. Our orange fish is bright neon now, and the yellow fish are so much brighter, too! In another 5 days or so, we'll add the rest of the cichlids to the new tank. I'm so glad that we bought this salt.

It’s safe.
Great to know this product is available to keep my African Cichlids happy and comfortable in tank. So far it has not bothered them negatively so it’s safe. Prefer this over Aquarium salt now that I am aware of this. Don’t think it has the healing properties of aquarium salt but it makes water to there natural environment. So they are happier.

Klare Empfehlung!

I use this with RO water for lake Malawi and Victoria Mbuna cichlids
Good product, make sure you read and use the correct dosage. I do not like to put it all in at once. Slowly reach the goal as you do water changes if you start out with tap water and move to RO water.

Boosts minerals, buffers water—keeps African cichlids thriving with clean, stable conditions.
Used this in a 120L African cichlid tank—helps replicate natural lake conditions with essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Fish showed better colour and activity after consistent use. No clouding, no harsh reactions, and no impact on filtration. I’ve dosed it during water changes and new setups—easy to measure, dissolves clean, and doesn’t leave residue. Works well with Seachem buffers if you’re dialling in pH and hardness. Ideal for Lake Malawi, Tanganyika, and Victoria species. 🔍 Specs & Features Size: 250g tub Type: Mineral supplement—not a marine salt Use: African cichlid tanks (freshwater only) Function: Adds essential electrolytes and buffers hardness Compatibility: Safe for all African cichlids—use with buffers for full effect Application: Dose during water changes or setup—follow chart on label 🧪 Performance Water Chemistry: Raises GH (general hardness) without affecting pH directly Fish Health: Supports osmoregulation and colour Dissolve Rate: Fast—no clumps or residue Smell: Neutral—no chemical stink 👍 Pros ✅ Adds key minerals—supports cichlid health ✅ Easy to dose—clear instructions ✅ No clouding or residue ✅ Works with buffers for full lake mimic ✅ Long shelf life—small tub goes far 👎 Cons ❌ Not for non-cichlid tanks—can alter balance ❌ Doesn’t adjust pH—needs buffer pairing ❌ Manual dosing—no scoop included ❌ Can be overdone—stick to chart 🧭 Personal Verdict If you’re running African cichlids and want clean, stable water with proper mineral support, Seachem Lake Salt earns its spot. I’ve used it across setups and water changes—no drama, just solid results and happy fish. Proper stash-ready gear for anyone who wants their tank chemistry dialled in.
