Hi, the height form the floor to top of seat is 17 inches, the depth of the seat is 17 1/2 inches

Does it have goves on top? Or the surface is smooth?

The top has no groves.the surface is smooth

can you open one leaf or must both of them be opened at the same time?

You can open one leaf at a time so you get 3 sizes, but it is not stable you pull the leaf out then up to push 2 pins in to the main table, on doing this if a child pulls the leaf then it drops this is why I returned it

Is this table heat resistant?

heat will after time lift the lacquer you would need to use place mats.
