High Quality Food!
Used this for my fish's food when I used to own fish tanks, very highly reliable, and the fish's colors were popping with this high quality food! Now I currently use this in a mix for my roaches to feed my lizard. Keeps them all very healthy and gut loading works great!

Great for fish and great for budget!
My fish love this food. Because it is spirulina and not the orange food, the water does not look brown between weekly water refreshment. The fish are in good health, are not fighting with each other due to hunger and it is easily digestible by them. The size of the container works great to feed my fish in our 90 gallon tank.

Superb Food of Superior Quality
Having kept fish for over 35 years there are few foods I haven't tried. Along time fan of Zoo Med for a multitude of reasons. Zoo Med uses top grade ingredients and the foods are made here in the United States. Unlike so many imports from China Zoo Med foods are free of filler, sub par ingredients and what is most important free of Ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is a toxic pesticide often touted as a preservative - It's long been banned from dog and cat foods however due to poor regulation lower end foods continue to use it. Studies have proven that Ethoxyquin even in trace amounts is especially lethal to fish. Studies that support this can be confirmed by simply looking ethoxyquin up on Wikipedia and follow the links to the findings. Regarding Spirulina 20 - this is an outstanding, naturally color enhancing food. Packed with protein at 45% this food is perfect for fish ranging from African Cichlids to Fancy Ornamental Goldfish - both of which I keep in a never ending accumulation of fish tanks. Spirulina is a plant based plankton often referred to as "the perfect food" it's packed with protein, vitamins A1, B1,B2,B6,B12 and vitamins C and E. In addition Spirulina is rich in eight essential fatty amino acids - it's a wonderfully healthy food. The flakes are huge which makes feeding a breeze - I have a huge Red Devil Cichlid who goes crazy when he sees the jar. My Ornamental goldfish and other Cichlids are equally crazy for it. Perfect for salt, fresh and brackish water fish - Spirulina 20 is an absolutely wonderful food which will enhance both the color and health of most any fish you keep.

Good Choice for Fancy Goldfish
I wish there were half stars because I would give this 4 and a half. I bought this because the ingredients seemed simple, transparent and fit my goldfish's needs without including a lot of stuff that I did not think was good for him/her. This is the first time I have tried the food and I have been using it for roughly 4 months or so. I am comparing it to brands that you can usually find in pet stores in the United States. Pros: The product is pretty much as advertised: large, very fine flakes that smell like a combination of salmon and spirulina, the two main ingredients. Salmon is actually the main ingredient with spirulina right behind. There is less filler (soy, supposedly better for fish tummies than wheat), no artificial colors, no nasty preservatives (ethoxyquin) like you find in other fish food. The nutrient statistics on the bottle seem to fit what a goldfish should be eating: not really high in either protein or fat, a little lowish on fiber though, so this has to be supplemented somehow with other food. My fancy goldfish loves them: he "vacuums" them up as soon as they hit the water. Cons: The flakes do seem to attract algae into the tank. I find myself having to scrub the walls of the tank twice a week whereas before I started feeding this food, I did not have this issue. It does not seem to contain whole salmon meal, which includes the flesh and innards. Salmon meal to me means the skin and bones basically, but perhaps I am wrong about that. If I am right, whole salmon meal would be far more nutritious. Knowing how to feed a fancy goldfish these flakes without giving it swim bladder problems. Neutral: I did not seen any changes in color in my fish as advertised. He is not brighter, duller, nor has he changed colors like some do while eating food that contains molecules like beta-carotene. With respect to the last point in the "cons" section, fancy goldfish are prone to swim bladder issues. Some reviewers have complained that the flakes get smashed up but this is actually a good thing in the case of these kinds of goldfish. I break these flakes up into a small cup of tank water first, making sure that the flakes sink before feeding them to the "little nipper". This keeps the fish from coming up to the surface of the water and gulping in air while eating the flakes. Would granules be better? Hard to say actually, because they have to be soaked until they expand fully before feeding them, otherwise they do their bloating inside the fish. I usually give these once a day to fishy. As part of a varied diet including home-made veggie gel food, freeze-dried foods like bloodworms, and seaweed, I think this flake food is great for fancy goldfish! I recommend and will be buying again.

Very pleased, initially.
This is an initial review. Tons of big, crispy flakes. I really like the look/ feel. Smell isn't unpleasant. I have four tanks with hundreds of community fish. Their diet varies. Mostly Community Crave flakes, some New Spectrum pellets/ wafers, Bug Bites; I was using Cobalt Ultra Spirolina, but I can't find it anymore, hence this purchase. Great price. Decent ingredients; 20% spirolina, and it's the second ingredient under protien; a few fillers, but lower down. Experation date is over two years, so that's good. Just fed them, and everyone was excited to eat! The true test will be the next vacuum; how well it was absorbed, and consumed.

Good quality food. So MUCH of it!
I did a lot of research and decided to use this along with 2 other types of dried fish food. It's very good quality with a good mix of nutrition and not a lot of filler. I didn't realize how much 4-oz was until I received it. OMG...this will probably last 3 lifetimes for me.
