Pockets only on 1 side. Just a small pocket on the outside that you can write on the "contents card" what you have placed inside.

I can confirm that you can fit a Barbie or Disney princess doll in each compartment. I own several of these & they’re made well - very durable. Highly recommend!

This Travel carrier is great for the LOL small dolls and other items. The only area that you could put a Barbie is across the top in the one area that has a zipper. That area would only hold one doll. Thank you,

What is the back material besides plastic? I want this for cosmetics.

Back material is NOT plastic. It is a shiny silk like material. Make up would definitely seep though if it leaked.
