Good product. Wrong application
I was rebuilding my 23 year old Broan central vacuum. From the factory, both motor gaskets were installed incorrectly, off center which explains the dust that always accumulated around the unit. I ordered two new motors and needed gaskets. By my mistake, I only ordered one gasket. I installed the new gasket on the lower motor which was very thick, about 3 times the original. The top motor I used RTV silicone. After assembly, I turned on the unit. The bottom motor was not running, locked due to the gasket being too thick and applying pressure against the impeller. I had to remove the gasket and seal the motor with RTV. Had I paid closer attention prior to assembly, the new gasket would have been fine for the upper motor. For my application, the gasket didn't work. It was a quality made gasket. I just wish I could have used it in the correct location.

This gasket should be replaced when replacing the central vacuum motor.
This is an easy decision to replace this casket. While you're changing the motor, it is worth $8.00 to replace this part. They all wear out eventually. So replace the gasket when the motor needs to be replaced.
