Review: Different plot - I’ve read various versions of the ugly duckling. This is not my favorite, but I rate it 5 because my kids love it.The illustrations are beautiful and font is large with simple language for a young child to read. The main thing I was looking for in the plot is demonstration of the mother’s love despite his differences- this book does have that. What I DONT like: This one is different from various versions I’ve read in that the duck does not get lost and is not run off. Instead, it seems to happen that he is lost by accident as the family leaves without him for winter. It doesn’t dive deep into how he actually “feels” which is why I personally am disappointed by this book. A different Spanish version I have shows the duck getting lost, struggling to find food in winter, and admiring swans fly by, only to realize later that he was a swan too. I was hoping this one would be like this, but it can still make for good conversation with a child. It also makes no mention of him realizing he was a swan and accepting that he was meant to be different, rather, ANOTHER swan points out his beauty. And the happy ending was that someone ELSE accepted his beauty, without mention of his own acceptance. But I know this is not a philosophy book! It’s just not my favorite version. Different plot
I’ve read various versions of the ugly duckling. Amo questa scrittrice infatti abbiamo anche The three Little pigs , il suo modo di scrivere è di un linguaggio semplice e fluido il mio bambino di 2 anni e 1 mese lo adora e dopo 2/3 letture ha imparato già dei termini e lo apprende facile.Il libro è grande con belle immagini e bei colori ,carta abbastanza robusta ma ovviamente non da lasciare in mano a un bimbo piccolo,per la lettura autodidatta servono i cartonati,questo è per la lettura che fa mamma.Consegna ottima prima del previsto.
