Product Description This 2LP set includes two albums from the mid Fifties, 'Chet Baker Sings' and 'Chet Baker Sings And Plays'. Chet Baker's legend lives on, thanks to music like this and interest from Hollywood, to which he appeared a James Dean-type figure. A documentary film shot the year of his death entitled Let's Get Lost was nominated for an Oscar, while Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio bought the rights to his posthumously completed autobiography. Meanwhile, Chet's work showed up in blockbusters like Stealing Beauty and The Sixth Sense as well as The Talented Mr Ripley, in which Matt Damon imitated his vocal style surprisingly convincingly. Even so there's nothing like the real thing, so enjoy two vintage helpings of the talented Mr Baker. About the Artist LP 1 Chet Baker Sings Side 1 1. That Old Feeling (3:04) 2. Vintage Chet Baker!
I very much enjoyed the singing and playing of mr Baker. The lp resembles Bakers classic vinyl "it could happen to you" released in the 50's . The only problem was the quality of the disc for my stylus (Goldring 2200) stopped dead twice on the same side of the lp. This was supposed to be a "180 gr audiophile vinyl pressing"! However, I can warmly recommend this vinyl recording because it's vintage Baker at the height of his powers!

Magical
I remember the first time I heard Chet singing. It was 30 years ago but feels like yesterday. It’s so haunting and so ethereal at the same time. I know nothing about jazz or the trumpet, but I do know that this is perfection.
