Dahle 448 Rotary Trimmer

This is an excellent paper cutter and definitely worth the money. It's very accurate and easy to use. It's also incredibly sharp and gives nice clean, straight cuts to even 350gsm card. It feels very sturdy and well made, and it's also easily serviceable, as replacement rotary blade heads can be bought from Dahle when the blades start to dull. Only downsides are it is quite heavy so isn't easy to move around if you're small like me. Additionally, the clear plastic guard that is designed to hold paper in place during cutting can't be removed which means you can't cut anything smaller than the guard because you can't hold it straight. This is an issue for cutting business cards and other similar sized items down. But otherwise it is an excellent product and does a great job.

This paper cutter is outstanding and worth every penny. After being disappointed for over a year with a cheaper type that left ragged card edges, I was delighted to find that this one cuts card cleanly and crisply making it perfect for a neat finish. I use it to make cards and it is amazing. It’s sturdy and solid, very easy to use and can’t be faulted. I’m tempted to get the A4 size one now for travel.

I bought this for my office as our current paper cutter was struggling with anything more than half a dozen sheets, and the bar had bent slightly due to regular overambitious use, which meant that the blade kept skipping up and taking chunks out of the plastic guard. The Dahle A1 Premium Trimmer is much more robust, with the heavy duty bar far sturdier than the cutter it replaced. As advertised, it can cut up to 25 sheets of standard printer paper without a problem, and the action of the cutter is smooth, with no skipping and little pressure needed. Overall, a good, solid paper trimmer that does everything it says it can and feels well-made and high quality.

The cutter is excellent, but the delivery was outrageous. The driver dumped the package (about 6 kg) downstairs (which is 4 floors below than where it should have ended up) and the only 'delivery' notification I got was the picture of my parcel in the e-mail (so that it could have easily been stolen by the time I came down to collect it, not to mention that I had to lug the box upstairs myself). For some reason I can't rate delivery separately from the product.

This is a game changer. I regret the years of buying cheap efforts only for them to break or need new blades. I could have bought one of these and saved so much money. I’m embarrassed about all the projects I sent out with jagged edges thinking this was just one of those things. I believe this is self sharpening so I’m confident those days are well in the past. This cuts amazingly well, even on multiple layers of card. I was amazed to discover it even cuts thin organza fabric - something even the sharpest punches and blades struggle with. The unit is refreshingly squarely aligned, unlike many cheaper units I’ve tried - some of which have bizarre 5 star ratings... I was swayed by the review by the printing company who demand professional quality and I’m glad I was. This is the best purchase I’ve made in years, I just wish it hadn’t taken me years to make the investment.

Solid German engineering. Don’t mess around, buy a proper one like this

I really enjoyed using this trimmer UNTIL it rusted. The metal cutting strip that is on the trimmer is covered in rust on multiple places and staining any paper that I cut on it. It has never ever touched water, or be in a damp place. I am shocked that this trimmer has rusted so fast, considering I have much older trimmers that have never rusted. This is the most expensive trimmer I own and I am very annoyed that it rusted so fast. Big thumbs down.

So the first one I got came assembled incorrectly, and without its box or instructions - things didn’t go well. But Amazon was helpful in resolving the issue and arranged for me to get a replacement and get the shocking one collected. The new one does what I need, sharp cuts through many sheets at once and has a helpful measured grid on the board

Eccellente taglierina a rullo, robusta, piuttosto pesante e ovviamente ingombrante... Taglio perfetto su pochi fogli per volta, un po' meno su 10+ fogli; tuttavia se si vuole operare su forti spessori/fogli multipli è necessario scegliere un'altra tipologia di taglierina. Quelle a rullo eccellono sul foglio singolo. Da tener presente che lo spessore massimo dichiarato è un parametro di confronto, e che nessuna taglierina funzionerà bene in quelle condizioni. Un altro elemento importante è la perpendicolarità del taglio rispetto al bordo guida. Per quanto ben regolate in produzione, inevitabilmente gli urti durante il trasporto peggioreranno lo "squadro". Ciò che conta è la possibilità - se desiderato - di regolare l'allineamento. Questo è perfettamente fattibile su questa taglierina, solo che la Dahle non pubblica le istruzioni necessarie per una regolazione ottimale, e così ho dovuto cercare sui siti della concorrenza... Per riprendere alcune critiche da altri utilizzatori: - la lama è ben dimensionata e robusta; è opportuno, di tanto in tanto, farla scorrere a vuoto un po' di volte per mantenere vivo il filo. Questo vale per tutti gli strumenti di questo tipo. Attenzione all'umidità: l'acciaio che tiene bene il filo arrugginisce più facilmente - mancano le griglie di riferimento in pollici: per me questo non è un problema... - qualcuno lamenta che col tempo i riferimenti sul piano si usurano e non sono più visibili: a me la serigrafia sembra solida; senz'altro tenderà a sbiadire dopo anni di uso intensivo, ma anche questo mi sembra rientri nella normale, inevitabile usura. Non c'è confronto con le taglierine economiche in termini di precisione e durata. Secondo me il prezzo dell' "usato ottime condizioni", attualmente ancora disponibile, è un buon affare.

Muy buena calidad de corte. Corta tanto una sola hoja, como una cartulina con mucha facilidad. Primero compré la A4, pero la descambié por una más grande de A3, la Dahle 442. Al principio tenía una desviación de unos milímetros. Contacté con AMAZON, que se portaron muy bien como siempre, y me dieron varias opciones. Al final me pusieron en contacto con Dahle y ellos me dieron unas directrices de cómo alinear la cuchilla correctamente. No es difícil y con un poco de maña lo pude hacer. Ahora corta a la perfección, al milímetro. Estoy muy contenta. La mejor cizalla que he tenido, es profesional y vale la pena el dinero invertido.

AMAZING PAPER CUTTER! Best one I've ever used! This was my 4th paper cutter purchase and I sure wish I had gone with Dahle from the get go because this one is stellar! It cuts perfectly! Whoever designed this machine deserves the best of everything! Grateful!

This item is an incredibly good cutter, which accurately shaves the merest sliver from card stock and paper of varying GSM, without any burrs. It cuts like a knife going through butter! After intermittently suffering through a lever handle guillotine for years, I did my research, and purchased this premium Dahle cutter. You can definitely see the quality in the weight and materials used. I enjoy paper craft, finish off my child's artwork and would use it at home to prepare displays for the classroom. If you are deliberating, I would recommend you purchase - the pleasure, ease and precision of use will compensate you for the financial outlay. UPDATE: As of September 2025, I have had this item for over three years and it is still exceptional - I would purchase - I pull it out and use it very frequently, and the quality will not disappoint.
