SD-WAN: Example-based Study Guide: Volume 1

This is one of the best tech books I have read in a LONG time. It is example based so I would highly recommend a lab setup to follow along. The diagrams are excellent quality and easy understand but there is no replacement for hands-on and there is an entire chapter dedicated to lab setup. My controller and vEdge versions weren't the same as the author's but I managed just fine in the labs. Volume 1 focuses on the CLI to enrich understanding of what is going on under the hood of SD-WAN and it is very effective. I am looking forward to Volume 2.

When looking to learn SD-WAN through different online courses, I noticed many brushed over only some of the topics and at a very high level. It was not enough to actually learn SD-WAN. In this book, the author goes over all the needed topics, explains them in such as a simple way, and has a perfect balance of details to actually learn the topic. Without this material, I would not understand SD-WAN.

I just got the book and started reading it. If anything changes in my review I intend updating this post at a later dateEasily one of the most practical books. If you cannot find a lab to work with then you can’t get most out of the book. Over the years I have worked on many technologies and have done a lot of research and hands-on books and labs. I liked the authors ideas more understandable and I will have a lab to check everything. But I am mightily impressed.

I found this author's website and found it very helpful in my studies. I was excited when I found there was an actual book because I prefer to read from the physical book than from a tablet/laptop screen. Easy to understand and many different scenarios for practice.

I'll admit I haven't gone through this entire book yet but what I have read through this is a decent book on learning SD-WAN technology. It's probably best when combined with videos and hands-on labs.

GET THIS BOOK. Don't even bother with the Cisco Press book. Seriously, those people should take a look at this to up their game. This book spells out EVERYTHING verbally and visually.

This book is amazing. Provides just the right amount of context before diving into examples and illustrations. Cisco Press authors could take a pointer or two from this authors writing and teaching style.
