Many readers will know Bob Kauflin from his excellent worship book
Many readers will know Bob Kauflin from his excellent worship book, Worship Matters. Like Kauflin, I am involved in training worship leaders and musicians, and am very pleased, indeed, he took the time and effort to publish a keyboard book. I hope it will create interest and inspire other musicians to publish in this area as well. We need a wide range of long and short, basic and complex, detailed and diverse materials of all kinds. Much remains to be done! Kauflin appears to have aimed his book at the intermediate level, though more advanced players will find insightful perspectives. He has the average keyboardist playing in a worship band in mind. Readers should find the book structure and formatting crisp and accessible. Sprinkled throughout are numerous excellent guidelines concerning the kinds of practical adjustments needed in order to play effectively in a worship band. As a result, the chord spacings and textures are leaner, less full, with less doubling than you will find in many keyboard books. He also addresses spiritual attitudes/qualities required. Using well-known, current worship songs, contemporary rhythms and fills are illustrated. I found his comments on โbeing aware of the audio spectrumโ engaging and spot on. He begins with basic chords and inversions. He utilizes added second chords. He explains slash chords such as the โfour over fiveโ (which he calls โThe flat seven slash chordโ) and the โone over fourโ chord (which he calls the โMajor seven slash chordโ). These are important contemporary sonorities that classical musicians may not know. The back cover summarizes the 86 pages well. I wish the book were longer, which would have allowed for a more detailed development. That said, pianists will be blessed by many practical concepts which are fleshed out in physical notation and in the accompanying sound tracks. Perhaps even more importantly, keyboardists will garner valuable keyboard advice and direction from a knowledgeable professional. In short, the book will point you in productive ways to take immediate action. Get it! Work on it for the glory of God! Grow! Dr. Barry Liesch Music Professor Biola University

A great lesson to enhance your piano lessons
I needed another lesson guide to help me learn and understand the style of worship piano. This book has great insights for intermediate levels for who have been practicing the piano for a while and need to push their level of piano knowledge.

I liked it very well
Well, I haven't read it all thoroughly, but the content seems promising. I started with the first one and have already bought four more, although if I don't like them, I swear I'll return them, since I know how to play the piano. However, I collect books because I think they have good content, and please, writers, don't send me books that are wrinkled or have smudged, almost opaque letters that look like they've run out of ink.

Great book
This is a great book if you want to know how to play worship piano. The only negative so far is that it doesn't have a lot of information on what to do with your left hand. But it's answered a lot of the questions that I had trying to start playing worship piano.

Yes, it's what you need
Been looking for something like this for years. As a classically trained pianist, I worry whether my chord chart interpretations are creative or musical enough. This step-by-step guide answers a lot of questions. Thank you, Bob! Update: some of my fellow teachers and I are now purchasing this book for our students!

Fantastic book
This book is amazing. Being a classical piano player I knew what chords were about, but when I sat down at the piano I didnโt know how to begin to learn how to play for church. This book is super easy to understand and also very thorough. I would highly recommend this book.
