I received this smoke alarm and was genuinely pleased with it. First off, installation couldn’t have been easier. It’s lightweight and compact, which makes fitting it straightforward. If you don’t want to drill into your ceiling, it’s light enough to attach using adhesive pads (obviously making sure they’re suitable and secure). For anyone who isn’t keen on DIY or making holes in the ceiling, that’s a real plus. The 10-year sealed lithium battery is a big selling point for me. No annual battery changes, no annoying low-battery chirps in the middle of the night after a year — it’s designed to last the full lifespan of the alarm. That alone makes it feel like a fit-and-forget safety upgrade. It uses Thermoptek multi-sensor technology, which combines optical sensing with thermal enhancement. In simple terms, it’s designed to respond quickly to slow smouldering fires as well as fast flaming ones, while reducing false alarms from cooking fumes. So far, no random beeping when making toast, which is always reassuring! The alarm itself is loud and clear when tested, and the test button is easy to press. It feels solid and well made without being bulky. Overall, this is a reliable, fuss-free smoke alarm that does exactly what you want it to do. Easy to install, no battery replacements to worry about, and good peace of mind. I’d happily recommend it.

Easy to fit and works fine

This is my 2nd purchase of this product, the last one being about 3 years ago, so the battery didn’t last anywhere near 10 years. I’m giving it another chance just because the fittings are already in place. Let’s see how long this one lasts 🤞

Bought to replace others where battery was expiring. They fitted directly in the existing mount so we easily exchanged.

Effect and easy to install

I purchased this to replace an older model which had reached the end of its life. The alarm is well built and comes with a built in, non replaceable battery which has a life span of 10 years. Near expiry, the alarm starts going off sporadically to let you know! The alarm was easy to fit onto the older models fitting, which then automatically activated the alarm. I need to jow purchase an additional one to replace another older model. I did research prior to purchasing and is recommended by a number of fire services.

FireAngel have had a reputation for excellence for a long time, so when it came time to change out our detectors I decided to go with this brand. I initially ordered three. Installing them is a snap, no more than drilling a couple of holes and fixing the base plate to the ceiling. Since then I have received and installed a fourth in our living room where a fair bit of electronic junk is plugged in. Unfortunately, two of the original three didn't work on the self test. Okay I thought, it happens, I just got unlucky. So I filled in the amazon returns form in order to send them back for replacement. While I was packing them up, a friend popped round for a coffee. When I told him the alarms didn't work he looked momentarily puzzled and then smiled. "Sure they do, you're just doing it wrong." So, he refits the two plates for the "faulty units" and hey presto they work just fine. It took me a moment to figure out what was up before hitting myself in the head. We have artex ceilings... What I had done, was screw the plates down too hard, so they twisted. This meant that the small plastic trigger that activates the alarm wasn't engaging properly and they failed the self test. So, word of caution. Make sure the plates are NOT twisted when you fit them. If your ceiling is uneven, or you have ridged decoration on the ceiling, take care to just tighten the screws. not drive them home. The mounting plate needs to be flat. Feeling a bit silly, I thanked him and life went on. Two days later, my wife set the alarm off cooking dinner. These little contraptions are surprisingly sensitive, not that this is a bad thing, but... Chip fryers, hot ovens, heavy steam can all set these off. The heat detector that is built into the unit is very efficient. So make sure it is not pointing at your cooker, or installed close to the cooker or deep fryer if you have one. Stick it the other side (or end) of your kitchen. It will still detect a fire, but it won't go off every time you cook a meal. After the inadvertent testing due to cooking, and another event caused by my neighbour burning rubbish in his garden I feel quite certain that this unit will protect the lives of my family should something untoward happen. That's quite reassuring when you read how many people are harmed or killed in fires across the country. This product works, and you can't get a better reassurance than that.
