Far less moisture and mould in the bedroom now!
I purchased this dehumidifier to replace one that stopped working. This is a powerful little unit, constantly sucking up unwanted dampness and moisture in the air in the bedroom. Without using this item, the windows are streaming wet in the mornings. Absolutely wouldn’t be without a dehumidifier in the room now and this one does the job perfectly. Quiet performance, so we can sleep with it on. Needs emptying twice a week. Can’t fault this item. Perfect for combatting mould and mildew, our room no longer has that damp smell anymore and the black mould spots have been reduced considerably. Highly recommend. Advisable to not go out and leave this on though as electric and water is a bit dangerous so we always turn off if out or away on holiday.

Easy to use, compact, quiet, lightweight
I’ve never owned a humidifier before, so I have never really thought about how they work. I expect industrial or office sized ones work in a different way, but this mini humidifier is quite a clever little piece of equipment, which needs no setting up before its first use, and is very easy to use. It was delivered (inside a polythene bag) inside it’s own box. I don’t know why, but it didn’t come in the usual Amazon cardboard and (tons of) paper packaging - it just had an Amazon label on the back of the box, and some ‘Prime’ tape stuck ‘up and over’ the front-opening top of the box. Upon lifting the box ‘lid’, a small white box was visible in a compartment - above the humidifier and below the lid. This contained a DC power/adapter cable and plug. I literally took the humidifier out of the box, plugged the adapter/cable into it, plugged that into a wall socket, pressed the power button on top of the humidifier, and off it went.. Then I read the instructions. It is a Peltier humidifier - a word I had to look up because I hadn’t heard it before - which removes damp air using thermo-electric technology. There are no moving parts such as a compressor, so there’s no vibration. There are no refrigerants either, so it’s compact, cheap to run, and eco-friendly. When it’s switched on a green circle lights up around the power button on the top, and a small warm breeze can be felt, but barely heard, as the damp air is sucked into the many holes at the front and the dry air goes out of the small grille at the top of the back. The humidifier has a blue 700ml water tank at the bottom (on the back) which has a hole in it for the condensed the water to enter by, and a rubber drain plug for emptying it - very like a condensing tumble drier’s tank. There is a small hollow plastic float, shaped like an upside down party popper, which rises through a third hole as the water tank fills up - until it touches a tiny wheel just above it (within the body of the humidifier), and automatically switches it off. The green light circle then turns yellow. The water tank (like a small drawer) is removed for emptying by pulling its recessed handle outwards. The rubber bung is cleverly designed with a built in rubber ‘T’ attached to it to prevent it coming right out of the drain hole and becoming lost. Because it is so lightweight, this humidifier can easily be moved from room to room as necessary, and is ideal for caravans and boats as well as in the home. Because of the electric power supply I don’t suppose it’s advisable to use this humidifier in a bathroom, but I live in an Edwardian house that has a cold, damp, downstairs bathroom (a coal shed/outside loo conversion), so I stand the humidifier on the ceramic tiled floor, just inside the door, with the cable going underneath the door to a wall socket on the other side. I should have got a humidifier for here many years ago because condensation streams down the cold tiled walls after a bath or shower, and an extractor fan alone is inadequate. The condensed water from the humidifier is not drinkable, but I recycle it by using it in my steam iron, in preference to tap water.

Hysure Portable Mini De-humidifier
Having proven (using an hygrometer) that my kitchen was damp I realised that I needed a de-humidifier. As the kitchen is small I looked at the suitable models available and selected this inexpensive Hysure Mini, rated at 300ml per day. I thought this would be adequate. The unit is attractive in design and compact with has a single on/off button, so is simple to use. It fits on the work-surface where the worst of the damp is seen and seemed just what I needed. The unit uses a Peltier module, running from an external 9V supply (a mains plug-in power supply is provided) and is rated at 23W. The water tank is capable of holding 700ml and is fitted with a float-operated switch to turn off the de-humidifier when it is full. When the unit is running normally a green light around the on/off button is seen and when the tank is full the light turns to yellow. The unit contains a fan which makes a slight noise so it would probably be too noisy to use in a bedroom but would not be a problem elsewhere. In operation over a few days I found that the de-humidifier removed approximately 50ml of water per day with an ambient temperature around 19 to 20 deg C and a relative humidity of 70 to 85 %. Not as much as I expected but the manufacturer’s quoted figure is at a much higher temperature so there will be a difference. I was hoping to get the humidity down to a healthy level, around 50% as indicated on the hygrometer, but I only saw a reduction to 70%. I seriously underestimated the amount of damp in the kitchen and would have chosen a higher rated unit if I had realised. When I looked around the cottage I noticed that there is no damp-proof course so there will always be a problem with damp here. The same comment would apply to use in a garage or shed; I doubt that this model would be adequate. For use in a wardrobe or cupboard I think this would be a good choice.

Hysur 700 little dehumidifier
Very good so far ..in my wardrobe doing it's job! SO QUIET! And eradicated condensation and musty smell and hopefully no more mildew on my beautiful suede shoes /boots.. It's the access condensation build up that causes moisture to then allow mildew to grow or mould!!! On anything So dehumidify all the way !!! Seriously a great little unit simple and quit and does the job required! I have even slept better and can breath clearly too now the sore have been cleaned up with rubbing alcohol and the use of this dehumidifier! I do have a large dehumidifier in the house too. Different make. Best intention to stop the condensation build up and clearer air in house

Great little product for small spaces.
Bought this product as we had a damp problem in our drying area, when it’s raining we have a small area indoors to dry clothes, this fitted the bill for us perfectly, small and compact makes it easy to store after use and when in use doesn’t take up any room at all. Not too noisy in fact with background noise you wouldn’t even notice it. The tank is small, we weren’t convinced it would do the job but for money thought it was worth a try and we were pleasantly surprised, it really does take up the moisture in the air. Too early to tell whether it will completely solve the problem but it is certainly helping. All in all we would say good value for money and for small spaces perfect.

Loud and Doesnt work well
Product doesn't work well, advertising feels a bit misleading. Do not buy if actually need to get rid of damp from a room as it does not remove much water from the air (less than 1% in a day is the best I seen). The room it was tested in is very damp, 80%+ ie. mould problems and windows that drip water in the morning time so I had expected it to at least stop some of them problems but it didnt make a difference. Also it is very loud so it cannot be used in a bedroom or anywhere you would be in commonly, its louder than my tv.

total waste of money
I bought it last summer to use in one room. It worked quite ok for the first few times but for the last six months it has done nothing to help with humidity. I have a humidity measurer next to it and was checking but nothing. Hardly any water accumulation and the room is small.

It does work, but very slowly
It does work and pulls some water out of the air but it's very slow to do so. It will not fill the tank in 2 days, probably not even in 3 and this is in a room with clothes airing in it, so there is definitely moisture to be picked up. On the upside, it uses very little power so you can just leave it running and forget about it. The tank has a pressure switch that will turn the dehumidifier off if it gets too full so there's no worry of spilling. It also works without actually having the tank in it, so you can leave the dehumidifier in the sink and it will just drain the water directly as it gets pulled from the air.
