Notice there is a power socket to power the dashcam, can i cut it off and hard wire it to a dash cam to run the wires more discreetly?

Yes  should be OK as long as those other wires are expecting 12V.  USB is 5V

does this work with the kdlinks dx2 dash cam?

Yes this has a female cigarette power port so will work with any dashcam product that has a male cigarette power adapter plug.  (or can splice direct wire to wire for 12V)  You'll get low voltage cut-off, high temperature cut-off, and optional timer cut-off.   I only allow mine to record for 30 minutes per parked event so it doesn't wear out the vehicle battery as fast.  I flip the switch to turn off timer mode for special events when longer recording is needed.

Does this require a profession installation? Does it say how and with what is needed to install for a non-professional electrical person?

Konagal, no it doesn't require professional installation - I installed it myself. If you are uncomfortable with wires, fuses, multimeters, and electric currents - any local car shop will do it for a fee. Manual (http://www.vicovation.com/productdetial.asp?id=E61BAB5B-D4D8-4BDB-9B97-D7064A93C859&lang=eng) describes steps that you need to perform. You'll need a simple multimeter to find constant power in your car's fuse box and grounding. Also, two fuses and two "add-a-fuse"s (and wire crimper to attach vico power plus wires to add-a-fuse), electrical tape - all mentioned in a manual. Manual does a good job walking you step by step through major steps. Also, find you car's repair manual so that you know how to take off covers where your fuse box is located. This will help you to wire it and hide the wires so the whole installation can be completely hidden. For example, fuse box is typically located on driver's side and you can wire it so that power plus is in glove box.
