Question 1

I do a lot of gardening but am a med/sm woman. should i get the f6 instead? i have smaller pruning shears but need something for larger cuts.

Accepted Answer

Th Felco F-8 is perfect for my small hands as the leverage it delivers is far better than the typical shears. My Corona are disposed of after receiving the Felco as the Corona has far inferior steel in the blade where it counts the most. The Corona also uses far to many delrin or plastic parts that fall apart in modest use.
As mentioned by others, using a Felco lopper for the larger stems is a wise decision.

Question 2

Where are these shears made? Thank you.

Accepted Answer

A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON FELCO- From the Felco Store WebsiteLocated in the heart of the Swiss Jura, between Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Felco SA is in a region that is famous for its prestigious watch manufacturers - synonymous with quality and manufacturing knowledge. It all began in 1945 when Félix Flisch, using his own drawing board, designed his first forged aluminum pruning shear and manufactured a high-quality and exceptionally durable tool adapted to its user. Time has gone by, but the same spirit and objectives remain.Designed and manufactured in Switzerland, Felco tools are made from the finest materials in accordance with rigorous manufacturing procedures. These tools are appreciated daily by millions of users all over the world.

Question 3

Is the F-8 now made in China?

Accepted Answer

No. I just looked on the new F-8 I bought and it is marked Swiss made. Have been using it and it works great. It was a replacement for one I had for over 25 years.

Question 4

Just received my new pruners. Had to go to Utube to find out how to unlock. The thumb lock for blade is tight. is it ok to oil?

Accepted Answer

Felco is one of the finest pruner made. I have been a professional gardener for 42 years. You may need to slightly loosen the locking screw on the thumb lock. You should have received a tool for doing this with your Felco pruner. You can oil any part of the pruner. If you prune shrubs or trees with a lot of sap, you should clean the sap build on the blades every few hours with a light sand paper and sharpen the blade with a Felco blade sharpener. If you sharpen on a regular basis it will only take a few seconds. Sometimes, like every few months, the pruner should be takin apart and sanded in between moving parts and oiled. I use WD40.
