Perfect for polishing out small hairline scratches in a stainless steel watch
Perfect for polishing out small hairline scratches in a stainless steel watch e.g. a decent "silver" watch that's actually made of 316L stainless steel. I probably wouldn't use this on a plated or PVD gold/rose gold finish because of the possibility of polishing through the plating and not on a brushed stainless steel finish except to remove surface dirt and only lightly in the direction of the brushed finish. One packet is all you need - comes with two cloths in a sealable bag. Although it works really well on minor scratches and swirls it probably won't recover deeper scratches completely. So a nice looking watch looks perfect with just a few minutes effort. Also need a washed and clean duster to polish off the product. Put it on with the pink cloth and gently rub. Wait a few minutes and then polish off with the duster. Also used it on the stainless parts of a watch strap which are also likely to pick up small scratches. The two cloths work really well on almost perfect watches. The small area is easy to clean but wouldn't be effective on something that's too big. For minor polish, a leather strap can be left in place but for a major refurbishment it's best to remove the strap especially as can get into all the edges. For a sapphire glass it doesn't cause any problems. Best to avoid the area around the crown to prevent the polish getting into the mechanism. For a fiver and a few minutes effort the result is a perfect restoration - good goes back to perfect and especially worthwhile on an expensive watch e.g. spend 5 pounds to restore/shine a few 1000-2000 pound watch case is a good value proposition. Highly recommended.

Does a fantastic job!
As someone who's fussy about the appearance of his watches I find it annoying how quickly a stainless steel watch band can attract small hairline scratches and swirls - which soon spoils the look of the watch. Having searched various watch forums the Cape Cod polishing cloth was recommended by many so I thought I'd give it a go and sent off for a pack. I'd watched Youtube demonstrations and the results had been impressive but would they work on my watches? Well I ordered and the pack arrived, two cloths inside a foil resealable bag impregnated with a petroleum type substance so quite moist - it's important to re-seal the bag so they don't dry out. I wore latex gloves and an apron as the substance will get on your hands and clothes - I once nearly ruined a white shirt due to the black marks that come off when the watch is polished so be warned! I gave my most scratched watch (which I'd previously treated with Silvo) a go first and the end result was a 'night and day improvement, removing the fine scratches previously left behind. I then used it to remove a small scuff from the clasp - again with great results. Once you've finished polishing the residue off (takes a bit of time so be patient) the results are a sparkling clean, mirror finish. Will definitely purchase again and recommend to others. UPDATE 02/07/17 - found the cloth worked fine on a watch with a brushed steel finish (despite warnings that it may not be suitable for such surfaces) as long as you're careful to polish with (and not against) the grain.

good product
A good polishing cloth for your old metals to regain the original sparkling. However if you are looking to polish small scratches than search something else. Does what is says so be aware before buying. This give the natural shine to your metals and not polishes the scratches.

Absolutely brilliant even on over 100 year old jewellery
Brilliant product. I cleaned a gold ring which is over 100 years old, looks brand new. An 80 year old St. Christopher looks brand new, a 2010 Rolex GMT master 2 and a 2024 Rolex Submariner both loook new but not all scratches removed (even some light scratches) and my grandfather’s wedding ring I inherited which is 66 years ago is spotless once again like new. Even a gold ring which had a ruby missing came up spotless after the gold had started to get a rose tint to it but is immaculate now. All scratches removed apart from a few light scratches to the strap of one Rolex. Would highly recommend. I buffed off with a microfibre cloth. Easy to use. Great value for money, decent size clothes. Not an over powering smell of polish but I don’t think that makes a difference

Beyond pleased
I had a deep scrach on the bezel, wear and tear marks on different parts of the bezel and clasp and a 2mm scratch on the crystal sapphire face I could feel with my finger. I was told by 2 different places - Ernest Jones jewelers where I bought the watch from and a watch repair shop called 'In Time' both places said it was too deep to polish out and would need a replacement. I also had a 2mm scratch on the crystal sapphire watch face that i could feel and was told this would need replaced. The estimate for the bezel and watch face from both shops were both well over £500.00. I did some research on the web and on the recommendations from different watch forums I bought Cape Cod polish to try to eliminate the deep scratch on the bezel of my Omega Seamaster Professional and was about to order some diamond lapping paste for the crystal sapphire scratch. After 5 mins of applying Cape Cod along the scrathches then in circular motions, letting it dry and then appyling another coat, letting it dry and finally buffing off with my sunglasses cleaning cloth; the light wear and tear marks and the marks on the clasp all but disappeared, the deep scratch in the bezel was improved dramatically and softened to the point where it wasnt noticable (unless you were really looking for it)and completely by surpirse the scratch in the crsytal sapphire had reduced down to the size of a dot, I applied another lot of the product for a further 5 minutes and the scratch had completely vanished! I did not belive it at first and checked it under every light sourse in the house, took it outisde in the sun, back in held the watch close under a mag lite to tripple check and to my immense satisaction it had completely gone! Really impressed, the product went beyond my realistic applications. As the crystal sapphire scratch is gone and the deep scratch on the bezel is at the point where I do not notice it so it does not bother me, Ive just saved at least £495! It can be a bit messy when applying....but not really a con though is it?

It works a charm
I have worn my wedding ring without ever removing it off my finger for the last 24 years to the day. Noticed that it was getting dull so wanted a solution that meant I could clean it in situ, I wasn't disappointed. I tried to get a before and after as I never saw any pictures of solid gold rings. Hopefully this will help others know how simple and effective it is. It does leave an oily residue but kitchen towel for the finger and a buffing cloth on the ring brings it up lovely, as instructed.

Not a miracle cure
Polishes a little but not a miracle cure for deep scratches. Mask up your watch carefully with tape and use Autosol... works much better for repairing light damage.
